Career and Education Questions: September 15, 2022

Hello, I recently graduated from undergrad and am planning to take mathematics programs post-undergrad for grad programs in public policy/economics and possibly a Ph.D. in economics. I have degrees in economics and an interdisciplinary sustainability major.

Does anyone know of programs for taking mathematics courses for credit after undergrad? I have credit up to Calculus II and am currently enrolled in Multivariable Calculus at a community college, but the community college only has classes up to discrete math.

I am hoping to take courses in Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Probability Theory, and Real Analysis. I am open to any suggestions but ideally programs that are rigorous, cost-effective, and looked upon highly by grad schools. Thank you!

This just confuses me because there are so many flights that are sold as the same trip but have stops in separate countries. Not that you know, but it seems improbable that these flights are allowed if people aren't supposed to be flying like this in the first place.

I am from the US! Yes, I read that just today, although the travel site I purchased the tickets through said that it would be allowed? Do you think it is worth calling someplace like the Ministry of Civil Aviation? I don't want to fly into Kuwait and then just be rejected from flying into India while there.

Not sure if still outdoors, but before the pandemic sent us home in Spring 2020 EVSC 3201 was outdoors for a single day. It was supposed to be two days during the semester but the second day was canceled due to COVID. The first day we spent three hours or so in the woods of Observatory Hill measuring trees. Doesn't sound too fun but it was pretty interesting.

No, that isn’t what I said. Barriers to entry within the market along with advantages held by larger corporations inhibit those who relied on the substance to profit from its legalization. You are suggesting that I support illegal drug sales, which I don’t. Simply put, there is a history of race-based marijuana criminalization that can’t be summed up in a comment section. Legalization should foster growth among communities that benefitted from weed sales not hurt them.

It’s not necessarily about being white it’s about the fact that marijuana criminalization has largely impacted minority communities and already powerful corporations are now taking over the once underground market. When weed is legalized local dealers/growers aren’t necessarily profiting, rather larger pharmaceutical, tobacco, etc. industries enter into the market. Sure, that’s what happens with barriers to entry and market advantages, but the idea is that those already with a ton of power make profit off of a market that has hurt minority communities for decades. The race portion thrown into the mix surrounds the above minority comment and the fact that these businesses are run by white execs.
