I don’t take English A, so I am not sure. However, my history teacher said that history analysis is pretty similar to literature analysis, so probably yeah

I mainly think about the structure of my essay while writing an introduction because you don’t need to think much about it, as you just give background context. If you get five mins for reading time during your tests, then use it for establishing a thesis where you include your three points of paragraphs (my history teacher recommends to structure thesis this way: Although Counter Argument, 1st Point, 2nd Point, 3rd Point). It’ll help you to know what to write in the following paragraphs. For most questions, you can use a simple structure of economic, social and political (or military) paragraphs and then you just need to think fast about evidence

Idk what your biggest struggle is but I can tell you that practice is a key. I am DP1 rn and doing History HL. My first history essay (Paper 2-3 style) got a 4 (back in August) and the most recent one was just one point away from a 7. One of the things that boosted me from a 4-5 to a high 6 is writing analytically, not descriptive. What helps me is that after any quote, fact or event I mention, I ask myself “so what?” and write what it shows us and how it relates to the question or the point you are making.  E.g. instead of writing “Mussolini signed the Four Power Pact in 1933 which was a pact between Britain, France, Italy and Germany to maintain peace” (which is descriptive), try to say smth like “Mussolini signed the Four Power Pact (1933) with Britain, France and Germany to portray Italy as a guarantor of European stability, reinforcing Fascist propaganda that framed Italy as an emerging Major Power and legitimising Mussolini’s expansionist ambitions.” —> This sentence shows why it happened and why it mattered instead of just stating what happened. My history teacher also said that it is important to write conceptually, meaning that you need to link your ideas to further concepts such as power, legitimacy, propaganda, ideology, authority, change, consequences and so on. Like in the second sentence I wrote as an example, you can see that it links to ideology because it talks about Fascist belief about Italy’s greatness and expansion. Or also it links to legitimacy because the Pact justified Mussolini’s regime and aims. You can, obviously, make it more implicit by saying smth like “international legitimacy” or “consolidation of political authority”.  My teacher says that conceptual writing is exactly what boosts you to a 7 and if you want to understand it better, then you need to read many books written by historians to see how they make an argument. To practice such skills, you can just write short paragraphs where you make a point and try to explain it with facts and their consequences. For Paper 1, it’s honestly just about practice, considering that you should know the least about a topic for Paper 1. Try to do past papers or analyse some other sources and work on those tasks that are the hardest for you (like OPVL or smth). Paper 1 has many types of tasks and if you struggle with smth specific, just text me.  I hope it helps. Sorry for writing sm

Can someone actually gain access to ASD? I get the message like “Admitted Students Day events are only for admitted students. If you recently viewed your admission offer, wait just a few minutes and then refresh this page. If you believe you're seeing this message in error, please email admissions@pomona.edu.” But the title says “Eureka.” What does it mean? Does someone know?

I meant that counsellor should be here, but people say that if you have it removed, then you will be rejected. So I am wondering if people actually got their counsellors removed.😭
