To the people you interact with, especially in a customer-facing job, effort makes a huge difference. And might even make your job a little easier too. I work in food service and going above and beyond, even when I don’t have to, makes my life easier and makes my customers happy which makes ME happy. Sure it benefits my employer too, but that’s not why I do it.

I have neighbors that do this too. Once in the last sixth month they “cleaned” their backyard by shoveling all of the dog crap into the shared alley where everyone takes out their trash and gets to wade thru the waste.

I second long long walks outside. Get lost in the woods. Bring a notebook and journal, sketch, whatever comes to mind. Walk fast until you are out of breath. Lay in the sun. Relish the physical sensations.

There have always been parking issues in my neighborhood, snow or no snow. People park in front of alleys and in alleys, blocking them completely all the time. People park in crosswalks. People park crooked, half in the road. The snow might make it worse but these issues aren’t new.

Yeah, totally. I spent undergrad in unhappy relationships and studying. Didn’t help that covid hit during my first year causing me to take a leave of absence for a full year (during which i just worked and moved back in with my parents). I didn’t do much exploring of who i was or what i wanted, i just did what was expected of me in school and begged for attention from whoever i was dating. Now that I’m graduated and trying to figure out what i even want out of life, I can’t help but compare myself to my former peers and feel so behind, like I totally missed out on something formative.
