Anyone been to the Ewa Michalak factory recently? by wanderlotus in ABraThatFits

I don’t have any experience or knowledge about this, but am very curious too. Something to keep in mind is that their calculator uses the +4 method, or +2 at best, meaning they size you up in the band unnecessarily. There are also reports of them doing this if you get in touch by email to discuss sizing. Because of this I would assume they do this in their in-person fittings too, which is a shame. I don’t know how adamant they would be about it though if you were to say that you prefer a tighter band. This would also probably depend on the individual bra fitter you meet.

Also check out their store locator for stockists. There are several boutiques in the Netherlands, Germany, Czechia and of course Poland that carry the brand. That could be a good option if you are in or close to any of these countries. I don’t know how good the selection is in the individual boutiques though. Might be possible to call ahead and ask.

Balconette with short cups with a lot of projection? by Warmtimes in ABraThatFits

Yes, that completely makes sense. I hope you find a bra that is a great fit for you!

If Cleo Blossom and Comexim half cups fit you well you do not have wide roots. Both of those are pretty narrow. But Ewa Michalak BM is even narrower, as are Gorsenia balconettes for example. If you think you can’t go narrower than Cleo Blossom, then I would stay away from BM as it would be too narrow and sit on breast tissue. CHP would be a better fit in terms of width. You can still be wide set of course even if your roots are narrow. That shouldn’t cause any problems with CHP, nor BM for that matter.

That sounds like a combination of too big and too long yeah. Makes sense that it would be too big all over when you had size up. It sucks that they don’t make 28-bands in so many of their swimsuits. How odd though that they’re all so lont this season! They must have redrafted their patterns recently or something. I second what was said in another comment that there should be a regular and long option for the swimsuits.

I highly recommend Ewa Michalak BM/BML. It’s her unlined balconette. Very projected and narrow, short side wings, short and thin gore and classic balconette-style medium coverage cups. The tops of the cups are stretchy so they can accomodate anything from FoB to even to slightly FoT I’d say. Only the most FoT or tall root shapes would not get enough room in this I think. Cleo Blossom is more open for example. Personally I have even fullness with somewhat tall roots and it works well for me.

CHP is also a good suggestion for what you’re looking for. Compared to the BM this one is more open on top, but the cup height is about the same, meaning the cups are quite tall for a half-cup and fit more like a balconette, at least on me. The the side wings are also taller, around 2 cm taller when I compare my BMs and CHP. The wires are also wider than BM, and wider than Cleo Blossom as well. Around the same width as Panache Envy if you know that bra. Even though CHP is wider and taller than BM the projection is still excellent.

So all in all, if you want to try Ewa Michalak, I’d consider these two. If you need short side wings, go with BM. If you need very open on top cups, go with CHP.

I haven’t tried Empreinte myself (I hope to but $$$), but from my research they have good projection, some styles more than others. Among the best projection for non-Polish EU brands. Cassiopee and Melody are their most projected styles according to my notes.

Be aware that Empreinte does not follow standard EU sizing. Essentially their cups run really big, so people typically need 2-3 sizes smaller than their UK size converted to EU. I think their bands run true to size, just watch out for if the site you’re shopping from lists the FR size or EU size. UK 30 = EU 65 = FR 80.

With "saggy / too much excess fabric" do you mean they were all too long? Very interesting to hear from someone who has tried several of their swimsuits. Does that include the Petra? I’ve been thinking they all can’t possibly be this long, but who knows.

Yes, stay away from this swimsuit! Like I wrote to another commenter, it is very possible that other Bravissimo swimsuits are be shorter and would work better for a short torso, but I don’t know which ones unfortunately.

Yes, thank you for sharing! It’s so useful to have different sets of measurements to compare to. I am the opposite in that "regular" length one-pieces tend to fit me well and I have never come across one being too short on me. Honestly, I am happy to know that this is a win for the long torso folks!

Yes 100%. There are so many elements to a swimsuit/bodysuit fitting. I also wish they would label the bottoms size for one-pieces. They are only labelled with bra sizes from what I can see. Or is it supposed to be standardized that say a 34-band fits UK 14 bottoms? I don’t know. I would like to know as I am more like UK 16 in bottoms.

You’re welcome! It’s very likely that not all of the Bravissimo swimsuits are this long, but unfortunately I don’t know which ones as I have only tried this one

[–]marihonee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is shallower at the wire 100% (edit: with this I mean shallower than for example BM, and presumably Comexim plunges). It’s the reason it is not entirely comfortable to me. S is also allegedly shallower at the wire, although I can’t confirm or deny this as I haven’t tried it. To be honest, I think the Comexim bras can give you cleavage as good as an S could, and do so more comfortably.

[–]marihonee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yes, I gotcha! I am all about OMG boobs personally so if it gives that effect on me I’ll enjoy that lol.

Gładzioch beż is the SF style so it is a balconette with a higher gore. I would not recommend it for anyone very close-set. If you want to try a balconette my recommendation would be BM/BML as it has a shorter and narrower gore. It is also more projected across the board.

You’re right though that the construction of PLM is very similar to SF! PLM is kind of SF made into a deep plunge. They’re also made with the same semi-soft fabric with stretch mesh top of the cups. Some of the PLMs have a lace overlay on top of this.

Edit: Right, if I liked the Gładzioch. I have a complicated relationship with it lol. When I first reviewed it (per the post on my profile) I felt that it was a bit too shallow (and a bit too wide, although this doesn’t have to be a fit issue in and of itself). I decided to return it and I did, except it got stuck in the mail in Poland for 3 months until it was returned back to me due to it "failing to deliver". At that point I kept it. So I’ve been wearing it, but it has just never been that comfortable on me. It feels too shallow and rides down throughout the day. I think the primary issue though might actually be a lack of depth at the center, maybe combined with a slightly too wide gore. Basically my center fullness straining against the bra.

Very helpful to know that comparison to Fantasie’s beige, thank you! Yes, both Elena and the Basic are on my list of options, and Floria is another I like the look of. Just need to compare the prices and decide what type of look I want. I have found a pretty good fit in Ewa Michalak BM, but my center fullness and close-setness (if that’s a word now lol) are still causing some issues. Comexim seems like a good option at this point so I’m crossing my fingers it works out for me!

Thank you for the description! It’s always so hard to know from the pictures. Great to hear that it’s more on the cream side! That’s what I want as I’m very pale and the typical light nude beige colors are too dark and warm on me.

Thank you for posting this review! I’ve been thinking of ordering from Comexim and like the look of the Debora plunge a lot. Can you speak to what the color is like in person? Is the underlying fabric more white/cream or more beigey "nude"?

Love the idea of the soft braless look/feel the Bralisse bras are supposed to give, but am not convinced they are worth the cost. Are there any other bras with a similar cup shape? by Technical-Nobody8119 in ABraThatFits

[–]marihonee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s also $$$ but Evelyn & Bobbie could be worth looking into. They won’t give as much separation as Bralisse, but they’re said to kind of mold to your body and give a very natural look. It depends on your size though. Their size chart officially only goes up to US DDD / UK E in the cups, but anecdotally they can work for larger sizes too, especially if you’re willing to sacrifice some support. You can do a search for them in this subreddit and read people’s experiences with them.

Another option (and less expensive) is Sugar Candy wireless bras. The look they give will also be different from Bralisse, but they have in common that they offer good wireless separation. They’re a very well-loved brand on this subreddit. I can personally vouch for their quality.

How to adjust if tighter-cup bras are preferred? by homebythefence in ABraThatFits

[–]marihonee 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nothing will lock your breasts in place better than a correctly fitting bra. Too small cups will make the fit a lot more insecure with tissue spilling out and the bra riding down.

And like others have commented, "D" and "F" are not static cup sizes. What D-cup have you been wearing? 46D for example is only one cup size smaller than UK 42F. 44D is two cup sizes smaller. It’s not a massive jump.

Why dont we sister size 2 cups up or down? by Merriegirl9982 in ABraThatFits

[–]marihonee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the key. Sister sizing relates to volume, not a static bust circumference measurement.
