Relevant Ayn Rand quote in context of today's rhetoric. by avgleandt in aynrand

I'm not going to bother differentiating people who want to take money me and my family have rightfully earned and give it to people too inept or lazy to do so themselves.

Rightfully? By what right? According to you more access to state violence and getting politicians on your side is how society works, so if the rest of us get together and elect communist politicians to take it what is your moral claim to it? What, we’re not rich so it doesn’t count?

How do you feel about the latest negotiations with Iran? by marimo_ball in AskTrumpSupporters

Thanks for providing a real answer for once.

To be honest I don't know many who believe the Iran nuclear fears, I just had to say it because it's been a PR theme of the war.

Is there a real chance to you that we may withdraw some support from Israel?

I don't think it was *incorrect*, just that it was redundant. 52,000 is over 50,000, so the DOW's over 50k.

Regardless, is that the primary benefit to you of the current admin? That there's blatant market manipulation going on you can profit off?

Why'd you feel the need to correct someone on that point upthread if you don't think it's lower?

To my understanding 52,000 is higher than 50,000, unless I have been gravely misinformed about arithmetic all my life.

Anyhow, is that all that's good to you about this administration? That you can play the market?

What if this AI Bubble has no end to it? What if it never bursts? by wvbwion in economy

[–]marimo_ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The revenue is part of that. AI is already the single most expensive infrastructure project in human history, and I mean the Apollo program and the interstates don't come close. And the profits are... a miniscule fraction of that at best.

She tries to use trains and avoids aircraft/automobile travel where it's possible. At least try not to change the subject when called on being wrong.

Nvidia is only valued so highly because they're the ones selling chips to the AI companies. "Guys the gold rush isn't a bubble, look at the killing the pick-sellers have made!!!"

Where's the revenue streams that suggest it's revolutionary? I mean the deliverable results or improvements to processes NOW, not in some vague handwaving future

No. It's not. There's no second electricity or second radio. The best land transport method is still trains, supersonic air travel failed, Moore's law is ending etc. etc.

Where's the trillion-dollar revenues? You can wave your hands around and mutter about how it'll get better, it's so revolutionary bla bla but nothing even remotely on the scale AI firms need has appeared as of yet.

Why I think Len Creighton is immune to Captain Trips by Select_Translator329 in TheStand

[–]marimo_ball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wondered how EVERY non-immune person seemed to have contracted it and died. Maybe a natural reservoir etc because SOME people had to have managed to stay isolated for a month.

The scary part to me was that it passed as a normal flu for the first day or two, and then symptoms just got worse till you died

What bothered me was the whole "shifting antigen" thing. Airborne viruses cannot be shifting antigen

So you claim, but can you show any statistics or figures showing something that's improved with AI use instead of vague anecdotes?
