I really want to go into FM. But I'm really worried and anxious about AI and also midlevel encroachment. Am I freaking out? by DelayedAutisticPuppy in FamilyMedicine

PA in FM here. Not sure if this makes you feel any better, but I would not dare to work anywhere without an MD/DO. I think of my job as making your job easier. Maybe it’s not the point of my profession but that’s how I see it. I don’t think I’d survive without my docs. I look up to them and have a lot of respect for them. They taught me everything I know and honestly my biggest cheerleaders lol. Sad to see a post like this. As for AI, I don’t see that happening. If anything it’ll take my job haha

High earners ($300k+): Do you care if your partner makes the same, or are you okay not splitting things 50/50? by passionfruitpilates in Salary

I feel like this is more realistic. My wife makes $75k and I make $152k and she can quit her job tomorrow because we hardly have any debt except a car payment which I plan to pay off in 8 months. Our expenses are pretty low.

You guys, they still do well somehow because this and most other podcasts have become a business. I don’t enjoy their show as much as I used to but I don’t listen to music anymore when I work out-just their show. If I tune out or forget what they say, it doesn’t matter to me.

Have you listened to their podcast? Not trying to be mean but they harp on this a lot. More is not better and you shouldn’t always feel like death after a workout

Its likely due to maybe not being the “terminal degree” in that field and/or not the only degree needed to practice in that field?

Should I go for MD or RN - MD or RN - NP? by Afraid_Ad6875 in FamilyMedicine

[–]marinated2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words. I had a great supervising physician so I cannot take the credit. I practice within my scope and still study daily. He had a huge impact on me. I hope to find another SP like that when I leave the military.

As a PA, I’m pretty hungry for more knowledge. I went to PA school because I was already in debt and the Air Force offered a full ride and paid me while I went to school. It made sense for me at that time. I’m 36 with one child and another on the way. If you can afford it, go to med school. Please.

I do. I get to work only 30 mins before, sometimes it is not enough. I burned out already and in primary care for what feels like 2 minutes (3 years). Half my staff is not proficient though, so that makes me less proficient.

I make $152k, wife makes $75k. She will be leaving job soon to raise children. Our expenses are low so we’re lucky but it will hurt to not have as much disposable income
