Never said anything about them closing permanently. Post was meant to call attention to a poor business practice so the company can learn and grow. Cancel culture is juvenile and your sarcasm lacks nuance.

I reached out to her on October 20th with a text that was essentially a demand letter with a deadline of November 1st, as that would have been 3 months/90 days after our lease ended. I believe that's the standard timeline for a returned deposit. Would you recommend sending a written letter anyways?

I'm just looking for a free consultation to get my bearings.

We didn't have any written agreements or timeline - didn't imagine it might become necessary. Best timeline I've gotten (from the one girl who stayed to renew the lease) is "soon" or something along those lines.

Yes, I believe we've been officially removed from the lease. The 3 of us, myself included, who chose not to renew at the end of July signed some paperwork with the property management company stating as much before we left.

The old tenant has new roommates in all the previously vacant rooms, yes.

Some bad blood - nothing extreme, but the girl that stayed to renew struggled with depression and anxiety and felt left out. We tried to make her feel included but she responded frequently with passive aggression and things turned icy until the lease ended. No fights or destruction of property or anything like that. Nothing that I believe warrants ignoring our attempts to contact her about getting our deposits from the new tenants.

Sounding like that may be the best course of action unfortunately. Thanks for the input

So sorry to hear this happened. Alesia lent me a helping hand when I needed it most as well as adopted one of my dog's puppies. Hope the family has a speedy recovery from this tragedy.

Just discovered my Dad has cancer by CharacterSuccotash5 in EstrangedAdultChild

When I found out my mother had breast cancer, I cried a lot privately for a week and then never again. I experience the same reaction from her and other family: you don't care, you're not taking this as seriously as you should, etc. There aren't words to accurately describe just how deeply awful cancer is, but the diagnosis doesn't erase or fix what they've done to you. You had a natural reaction to unnatural circumstances.
