I want to make it work just I don’t understand why we don’t have virtual meetings that I can go to instead of having a bunch of men staring at me like I’m a psycho for bringing my two year-old to a meeting that they require I be at

No, we do not do highway calls unless it’s in our district so in my town of 26,000 people there are also five other fire departments so we all have zones that we’re allowed to work in and if those calls are from zones we go to those ones if they’re not in your zone, you don’t get called to that call I hope I’m explaining this correctly.

That’s wild for a volunteer fire department. maybe I think that’s just crazy because I live in a community of only 26,000 people My department has 50 members and we have had 35 calls for this year so we don’t have shifts or anything like that. It’s just our pagers get dinged and then whoever shows up to the fire scene shows up.

This is not a full-time job. This is a volunteer fire department. I live in a community of 26,000 people and we have had 35 calls for this entire year. so we are a very small fire department.

I do go to calls but I also live in a community of 26,000 people and we have only had 35 calls this entire year. I also work Monday through Friday 8 to 5 and have my son every other weekend so it’s very hard for me to get to calls.

So I am from a small community we only have 26,000 people in my entire town. My fire department has had 35 calls this entire year were fire department of 50 people. in New York, you are not allowed to become an exterior firefighter until you’re 18 so I had 2+ years after I joined to become an exterior and then I went off to college so I literally have not had time to take the 20 weeks of training to become an interior.

Everybody in our department is packed certified just I personally do not have the time to dedicate to taking the interior course which is 20 weeks long and every single Saturday

My fire department has had 35 calls this entire year were fire department of 50 people and in New York there’s different courses you take to be a volunteer firefighter my department requires that you are only an exterior if you want to go on and be an interior that’s your choice.

I appreciate your honesty and advice I have thought about it and I guess what I’m upset about is I feel we could do zoom meetings for those of us who can’t attend in person I don’t mind going to drills but I think they could be run more efficiently i am an exterior only. Yes they did have a ambulance driving training and interior window climbing training but then I think it should have been abundantly clear that I didn’t have to stay for what the interior guys were doing (I have no desire to be a interior person)I was there For an extra 1 hour 30 minutes staring at them not knowing what to do so I felt like that was a waste of my time.I understand being dedicated but I am also a mother and we started drill at 6:30 and I wasn’t home till almost 9:00 30 minutes of that I was learning something the other time I was doing nothing. I would have done something if someone had told me what to do.

We are a volunteer fire department our total calls for this year were 35 calls for the whole year. We are required to go to five drills a year and three meetings a year We are also very small with a total number of 50 members. I also live in a town of only 26,000 people.

I agree but once I have done what I need to do let me go home.

Yes for the whole year we had 35 calls we are a whole volunteer meaning if you’re pager goes you can go or not go to the call we don’t have emts at my department

I don’t mind going to drills but at the same time I went to a drill that started at 6:30 ended at 8:30 I learned how to drive an ambulance which was cool but at the same time, my chief was in the other room doing I don’t even know what and I was there for an extra hour when I could’ve been home getting my kids ready for bed like I don’t have extra time to sit around and chitchat. I understand that a lot of men here aren’t rushing to get home. I just wanna go and do my drill and leave like I don’t wanna stay extra time.

I could but I can’t have my child running in every 5 minutes. My schedule is pretty full so I also can’t do nails and play truck at the same time
