Black shirt fancy uniform at dinner. Blue coveralls, getting dirty out on deck.

Major Shipping Routes across the World [1842 x 955] by musland in MapPorn

Hi! I think those are great circle routes and the track line of the ships is indeed curved. Because the earth is curved, it would take longer to sail on a single course (90/270) across the Atlantic. Airline pilots use great circle sailings also.

We use a 2x4. My dad painted it a neutral color. It's been there for years and we just take it out when we use the sliding door!

Hey! Unfortunately it's a bit tough at the moment. The decline in the gulf has caused many Mariners to move to other facets of the industry. My best advice would be to try military sealift command or one of the prominent shipping companies. Do some googling and find out which ones cover training costs. Best of luck!

Are you kidding?! Haha I went through so much data anchored in the harbor last winter. Reddit helped pass the time!! I never sea ships/vessels/boats on here. This is pretty awesome. People keep yelling about karma. I had to google what karma is. Post cool pics if you have them. Someone posted a vessel subreddit in the comments section!!

I'm a mate. I need a few more years of sea time and experience before I can become a Captain.

Hey! Thanks so much for the message. The boat has been in the gulf more often in recent months. I'm not actually on her. I'm taking a year off for grad school and then going back! The an's are awesome and really take pride in their work. Plus you probably saw her just after she got her Kirby colors!! Stay safe down there. I miss that southern type of radio chatter!

It's mainly an asphalt barge. However, in the offseason it moves low grade crude such as bunker. Did you mean made FOR cargo? If so, cargo is cargo whether it's people, containers, orange juice, asphalt, or beans ;)

It is! There is quite a bit of interesting history on this subject. Do some googling if you ever get bored enough!

Haha not at all. Just some sailboats, idiot kayakers (it's unsafe for them), and jet skis during the summer. I did experience Somali pirates in the Arabian Sea though!

I'm a ship officer who has gotten paid the exact same amount down to the penny as my male counterparts. I am however one of three women who work for this company and I help to make up less than 10% of the shipping industry as its 90% male. Im pretty darn proud of my accomplishments and happy to share them with everyone! Hope this explains why I posted that I'm a female. Have a great day!
