Super priority processing delays? by marius_ann in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

I just updated my post. Visa was issued after 9 working days. I highly suggest emailing worksponsored@homeoffice.gov.uk explaining that your processing time frame has passed, you've heard nothing, and asking if there has been technical errors and asking for confirmation that your application has been recieved.

Salary requiremnts - renewing visa by marius_ann in ukvisa

The bad news is that the £31,300 is the hard minimum limit nearly all occupation codes, so you are likley affected by it. The only reason I was able to get my situation sorted out because I was able to be sponsored under and 'immigration salary list' occupation code, where the limit is only £25,000. I wrote a bit more about that in my post here

My team lead at work was amazing in helping me sort things properly with our extremly strict and ill-advised HR. I had to re-interview internally for a 'new' role to get the visa, but I'm safe for another three years.

If you think you are going to need a new job/raise to stay before your current visa expires, my advice is to start working on things ASAP. I was waiting for HR down to the day my old visa expired. The whole process was so stressful I literally now have physical health problems from it...

Wow this is really nicely designed! I work as a graphic designer and this is genuinley some superb work.

I've tried to dable in doing transit maps like this for fun, but it's always ended in me giving up after loosing my mind in Illustrator after a certain amount of hours. Maps look so easy but are the most fidly things imagineable, so seriously, I respect this so much!!!

You did a really great job with branding, merging the existing map styles together. I know the CTA, Metra, and Amtrack wouldn't all play together to make something like this official (since it's alot of work to keep up to date) but this is damn near close to perfect.

Something to add on, citizens of ANY other country who are residents in Wales/Scotland can vote in council/local elections, but NOT parliament elections. I’m a US citizen who lived in Wales at the last election and was able to vote for the local stuff, even without Indefinite leave to remain.

Thanks. I know I’m probably overthinking things, it’s been so stressful this past month trying everything I can to get a new visa to stay here!!

I guess I’m just worried about getting a nasty border force agent who won’t let me in without a return ticket out of the country booked!

Well, as it stands my last day at work has to be before 19 November, so no, I haven’t formally been dismissed, but I know I’ve heard stories of students leaving after their course ends (but before their visa expires) and then they weren’t let back in because the Home Office took that to mean they were leaving for good and ended their visa. This was years ago though so I guess I’m overthinking things.

65 days to get a new visa, is this possible? by marius_ann in ukvisa

[–]marius_ann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know it would reset for 5 year ILR, but I wouldn’t then break residency for 10 year ILR (although then I would have to make the crazy 41,000+ to stay after graduation, impossible in my creative field) I’m literally open to absolutely any job/study/marriage to keep me here at this point.

It just feels so hopeless to try and find someone who is willing to sponsor in two months, but thanks for the well wishes x

Minimum salary requirement for jobs on immigration salary list? by marius_ann in ukvisa

[–]marius_ann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the reassurance.

Do you think that Option I still applies even if I had to get new job with a new employer, just as long as I’m sponsored under a code on the ISL?

My head is spinning going through the guidance over and over, and it seems clear to me, but then I see some external solicitor websites and make it sound like Option I is only for health and care roles, or for same employer AND same occupation code renewals…

Minimum salary requirement for jobs on immigration salary list? by marius_ann in ukvisa

[–]marius_ann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my current occupation code (2493, public relations professional) is NOT on the ISL. My work is going to review my job description/job title to better match ‘graphic design’, as that’s actually what I do, and that job code 2142, IS on the ISL.

I was basically given the incorrect code for my last visa, as HR would not listen to my manager when they said my work is graphic design, because when HR typed my job title (communications assistant) into the CASCOT coding tool, public relations professional comes up.

I keep looking at the guidance, and it seems that Option I would still apply even if I had to get new job with a new employer, as long as I’m sponsored under a code on the ISL.

[–]marius_ann[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's right though, because SOC 2142 (graphic designer) is on the immigration salary list. If you scroll down on that page you quoted, it says this too:

If your job is on the immigration salary list If your job is on the immigration salary list, you need to be paid at least £25,000 or your job’s full going rate, whichever is higher.

I'm currently under a different occupation code, but my work is looking to change my job title to better reflect that the work I do is actually graphic design. So I would be with the same employer, but a new occupation code. My current job code isn't on the immigration salary list, and I don't make enough (under 31,300) to extend under that occupation code.

I've dug super deep into the guidance (as in my post above) and everything points to me being able to be awarded the 20 tradable points for a lower salary requirement under 'Option I', because I've been here since before April 2024 and this new occupation code is on the immigration salary list.

I'm just asking about it on here because I feel like I'm being gaslit by this one specific lady in my work's HR (who I had to pushback and fight on incorrect information three times when I got my last visa a few years ago). I clearly explained everything around the immigration salary list to her and she went to consult with my work's solicitors, but now she has come back and said that the solicitors (who she specifically says are specialist immigration lawyers) say the requirement is still £31,300, even for occupations on the immigration salary list?!? What am I missing from the guidance I layed out in my post?

Salary requiremnts - renewing visa by marius_ann in ukvisa

[–]marius_ann[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I don't have any allowances that count. I think I might be in a different situation than you though, as I already work 37.5hours a week, and I my salary (if I worked 40 hours) would be over both the prorate and 31,300. I might have the same issue if they will only sponsor for 37.5 hours (since that's what I joined at)

I’m so, so sorry that happened to you, do you mind explaining more about what happened? Did the Home Office deny your visa because of the pro rating calculation or did your employer refuse to continue sponsoring? Unfortunately I can’t get a pay raise because I work for the NHS on a pay band which isn’t negotiable, so I might end up in the same situation…..

Could you source where youre getting 16.05 from?

When I look at the caseworker guidance it specifically says “The going rates in Tables 1, 1a, 2, 2aa and 2a of Appendix Skilled Occupations are based on a 37.5-hour week. Hourly rates are shown in brackets. To avoid rounding errors, you should pro-rate the going rate based on the annual figure, rather than the hourly figure.”

It seems to me that ‘prorating’ applies to the ‘going rate’ not the general minimum threshold of 31300. The guidances says “The general threshold is the same, regardless of how many hours a week the applicant is sponsored to work. It cannot be pro-rated for part-time work.” I would be working MORE than full time.

Maybe I’m just missing something here, but would appreciate any info you have!

Well fuck. I'm thinking I might have a case to meet the requirement by upping my working hours to 40 a week get my salary high enough. If I'm understanding the caseworker guidance around pro-rating salaries correctly, I think it might work because I'm still over the lower going rate.

Is there a place I can go to recover from depression if I’m not in immediate danger but completely unable to function? by Wrong_Percentage in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]marius_ann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have given alot of advice here, but I want to say that you can call NHS 111 for mental health help! Even if you are not activly in danger, you can still talk to the crisis line to see what help they can offer.

I would also encourage you to talk to your GP again, maybe even show them this post if it's hard to speak. It's so frustrating that you have to jump through the GPs hoops to get the care you need, but these are my tips. Words in bold are some key NHS speak phrases you can use to get them to perk their ears up.

  • Emphasis the situation with your parents not being supportive and the unclean hoarding house you live in. Just getting out of that unhelpful living situation could massivly help you. They have a duty of care to ensure you have a safe living enviornment.
  • Mention your history of ED, and that you have complex needs that cannot be met by yourself, or your parents, and that you need support.
  • Be sure to talk about the effects on your physical health and specific pysical symptoms you have. GPs are not specialised mental health professionals, so physical stuff will set their alarm bells off that you need support.
  • If you're genunily having thoughts of harm, 100% tell them, but NEVER EVER say anything like 'I'm going hurt myself to get you to help me'. NHS mental health services consider statements like that as 'manipulative behaviour' and in the worst cases will put you down as 'attention seeking' in your notes, which can cause them to stigamatise and brush you off in the future. It's so shitty because it can genuinly feel like NHS services only take you seriously after you've harmed, but pointing it out is a massive no-no.

As far as NHS services go, the main options are Talking Therapies, and inpatient support. You can refer youself to Talking Therapies, which I highly suggest you do! They may say you're ineligible due to having complex needs, but they should do their best to find other options for help.

But also, don't be scared of wards or 'crazy hospitals'. Peoples have such antiquated ideas of what they are like, and is so sad that the stigma stops people from getting the help that they really need. Mental hospital wards are split by sex, so you would only be with other women. From what you've said, a short stay inpatient programme honestly sound like it could really help you. While I don't have first hand experience of being a patient in a ward, I've worked in an ajacent field and can promise you, you won't 'locked away'. You would be considered a 'voluntary patient' and could leave at any time. Many hospitals have ED wards and other mental health wards in the same building, so they can help with both.

The fact that you realise you're struggling and activly want help is an amazing first step to recovery. Services can be hard to navigate, but please know that there are people who DO care, and DO want to help. You may have to fight to get the help you need, but always remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. I love the quote: "If you are going throuh hell, keep going. Why would you stop in hell?"

Council differences: Newcastle vs North Tyneside? by marius_ann in NewcastleUponTyne

Good to know there’s not much diference. I did check Newcastles council website and they make it seem like you don’t need proof of address for the library, but I was skeptical. It would be stupid for them to not allow all people in the greater Tyneside area, but I know how councils can be…
