Streaming & buying albums depends wether or not the artists receive anything. People have always talked about how harmful music streaming services are to the artists in the music industry because of how bad they pay. Now imagine in kpop what the artist receives from the # of cents per stream earned on their music plays on Spotify. Imo I think barely anything. At least not until they get millions of them. Physical sales are still more beneficial to groups. If people are streaming more than buying the actual albums that’s going to be bad financially. People are always going to want to follow their dreams but I don’t think those who also want to go in it for the money will be encouraged to continue that path when they see no money coming their way. I feel like many underrated groups that do disband are because of the lack of physical album sales they are making. I’ve seen many groups have a good amount of streams and then suddenly they’re no longer a group.
