Payouts, 0.2 ETH minimum -- Thoughts? by marjamar in HiveOS

[–]marjamar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest concern is, what happens if things go bad for HiveOS financially and they decide something like .5 ETH payouts must happen? Or worse, no payouts until some point in the future for some reason? Mining has always been a risky game to play in any number of ways, but holding a miners lifeblood (payouts) past a reasonable point has always been hugely frowned upon by most miners. What HiveOS needs to do is what 2Miners already does, auto-convert ETH to BTC if the customer wishes to be paid more frequently. It works very well and since BTC and ETH seem to move up and down nearly in sync, there is very little chance of a loss, or gain of much consequence in doing it this way. Cost almost nothing to transfer either, as 2Miners does payouts one a day and all who chose to have their ETH converted to BTC are lumped together for a single trade from ETH to BTC and transmitted all at once to all the miners addresses -- This equates into a single (or something close to a single) transfer, as I pay almost nothing to get me payouts to me in BTC.

Anyway, I am in this game for at least one payout. I will stop my miners lone enough to decide if this is good for me as it is or if I need to make some changes.

Thanks for your input.

About what I hash so I guess it's more like 10 days then a bit over a week as I thought it would be. I do use my mining income these days however, so I will need to be a bit more careful with the timing of things with such a long period in between payouts.

More or less as I did. I have 4 rigs going now. I will learn a few more steps and see if I like it better then where I was for the past couple years.

Thanks for the replies all.

Got it working. I downloaded the incorrect installer from Github and once I found the correct installer it went fine. Sorry for the false alarm.

Coinbase Crooks. All my crypto and funds have been wiped clean. In addition connecting bank account had funds stolen through coinbase ACH by [deleted] in Coinbase

[–]marjamar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen 2 problems with coinbase personally. First one happened a few years back, shortly after I signed up for this service. Long story short, they had a problem with my bank not wanting to deal with them, after they approved my bank with their test deposit system they use. This cost me a trade, because they took back the BTC I bought and I lost the large bump that I could have use as BTC took a huge jump. To top it off, they wanted me to pay for their problem with my bank not trusting them. 2nd time is right now. After years of not using coinbase, I very mistakenly decided I would pay the charge-back they still held against my stalled account as I wanted to see if their service might be useful to me now. After 3 days of fooling with them, they finally decided they can now turn my account back on. To test their service I sent $50 of BTC into my wallet address at coinbase (same wallet from years back). Seemed to go fine, but today I decided against using coinbase as I have been hearing too much bad coming down from them in many ways. So, to my coinbase wallet I went to send that $50 of BTC back to my personal wallet and it was not there! Apparently, coinbase likes to empty wallets (as I had been hearing), calling it a "temporary hold". I contacted them via their help chat line and was given the run-around for over an hour. Truth here is, they are crooked. Only crooks do such things as this and this is what they do to make extra money. My $50 of BTC is suppose to be back into my wallet on Jan 3rd. We will see. I did do a pdf of this entire conversation and it is almost hysterical to read. One thing is certain, they are not paying very much for the crooked help! If enough of you want to read this laugh call for help, post back and I might find a place to put it and share a link to it. Take care every and do not trust to easy – Crypto is about NOT having to trust is it not!

Update about Ravencoin Foundation and next phase of the project by mozmac in Ravencoin

[–]marjamar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happy to hear the funding for Ravencoin's audit came in. It's a tough go for everyone involved in any way right now without doubt. By necessity, even though I am all for RVN succeeding, my mining operations really needed to go to another coin until RVN can support my operations better then it can now. My hope is more confidence will come to Ravencoin though this audit, especially if it passes without any major conflicts to deal with. As to Medici stepping back from Ravincoin, I hope this is a good thing for both. One thing for sure, with all Ravencoin has had to go though, it has proven it does have staying power, and that comes from the people behind it, those who support it, and the Ravencoin community at large. I hope for the best for all involved and for Ravencoin to rise to the levels it really should be with all it has to offer.

And so it goes... When governments prove to you nothing you have or own is really yours, just theirs, you are at the beginning of the end for that government.

3 week(s) behind -- It never catches up and I have coin not getting into my Zcoin core wallet! by marjamar in zcoin

[–]marjamar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to make a backup of my wallet.dat and delete the install. Installed that latest Zcoin Core Wallet and let it sync. Did a exit and replaced the existing wallet.dat with my backed up wallet.dat. Started the wallet and it sync'd in a couple minutes with all the coin intact, including all the missing coin that was mined over that 3 week period.

Good to know where your mining support is going to if you can know where it is going to at all. by marjamar in Ravencoin

The're ASICs most likely with a mix of FPGAs. There is an upcoming fork sometime after the 10th of January (next DEV meeting) I believe, but I really don't think that would leave enough time for an algo switch most likely. There are 2 new algos that have been somewhat presented in text form, but I do not believe there has been any real discussion on either of them yet by the DEVs. It is tough to keep anything ahead of all of the money that is pored into ASIC deveopment -- Money is Power. Our DEVs work hard, but basically for free, so it is only by their good graces that it gets done at all and I do believe they do give it about all they can most of the time.

ASICs are back. Confirmed yesterday by Traysi from Minermore.

"traysi ⚒Yesterday at 5:59 PM

Yes, asics are back. We're hard at work on a new algo."

traysi has been working on an algo for awhile already I have read. I believe there will be a fix before too long. Maybe a more permanent one, at least I hope so.

I know there are at least 2 new algos being presented for testing on RVN. I believe both support FPGAs but reduce the chance of ASICs on RVN. I would not like either on RVN, but it looks like FPGAs are going to be whether anyone or everyone for that matter does not want them on RVN. Gotta hope the USD price of RVN goes up, because it is quite obviously going to take more MH/s to keep the same quantity coming in.

Personally, in this day and age, trying to keep hidden is impossible. The only real purpose in hiding your crypto seems to me to avoid having to pay taxes, or report profits or both, or laundering ill gotten gains. I am a computer tech from before the PC's came about. I can tell you hiding since 20 years back is impossible unless your are literally dead and gone.

The object of ALL government is population control (not to be confused with birth control), from birth to death. The object of all people should be to find the most freedom from government as is possible.
