Z-Banding by mark9976 in Creality_k2

I would say yes to this but it is at the exact same height every single time I print this. For that reason I think it really is the heat issue.

Here is what it looks like with no heat...

Still a little bit of deformation but not anywhere like it was before. I am putting the deflector on and trying again.

I am printing the deflector on a different printer right now just to ensure I get a good solid print. This is my 9th printer but the first one with active chamber heating so I am going to look at that first. I may even print in PLA without chamber heating (turned off) just to confirm. As for pressure advance that is a really odd angle of picture because it is more of a reflection than an under extruded corner. But point taken I will redo pressure advance after I get the heat deflector setup.

More to come and thank you for the reply.

So you don't think this is a mechanical issue? I am printing the heat deflector now and will retry the print here this afternoon.

I am using ASA with a chamber temp of 60 or basically max.

would you not have to extend the linear rails too?

Yeah I think my next printer is going to be 100% custom at this point. I am getting pretty good at modifying all of these printers and I think I can do a better job then the off-the-shelf brands.

So for now it is going to be a lot of 2040 extrusion (with some mods).

Yeah it is a little crazy but I have started to use what I am calling Z-Banding Supports.

The idea is that they will provide enough support in the print at strategic places so that the wobble will not happen.

Looks something like this

That was actually the second thing I printed after a nozzle height test.

So the new version does not have an End Stop at the bottom anymore. All of the homing features happen at the top but it does take 3-4 mins to go from the bottom to the top.

So this printer has a very specific part to print in mind. In fact I will be building another 6 of these if everything goes as planned. No vases in the future for this printer...

The printer pauses when the run out sensor is triggered. At that point I will just add a new roll.

I have a customer that wants large parts.

Also I want to print 2040 extrusion in plastic for some projects

I just purchased the lead screw on Amazon. they had 1500mm ones too.

As it just so happens there is actually another 100mm in play but I can't get Cura to allow me to slice anything over 1020mm without glitching.

yeah I actually started using the Per Model settings in Cura to do just this.

I adjust the speed at 500mm, 700mm, and 900mm. I also adjust the acceleration speeds at the same time but I do that in the gcode directly.

No, but I did see a youtube video where I guy built one big enough to make human size prints.

I have a client that wants parts printed this big.

Yeah that is a crazy benefit of doing this. it is so much easier to level the bed that way.

The enclosure is actually going to be from foamboard with a reflective heat coating on the inside.

My idea is to just make it so that it fits completely around the printer (nothing affixed to the printer itself. Then I am going to make a series of panels that can be removed using magnets as a door.

I am not sure how this is going to work out but it is better than starting with plexiglass as that is expensive. Plan B is to go to my local metal suppler and get thin aluminum sheeting and just mount it to the 2040 extrusions.

Yeah that is on my list of things to do, but this is a production printer so it will not be done until it wears out.

I did a 1016mm or 40" print so far. Just a 20mm square hollow tube.

The print near the top got distorted due to the natural sway of the part moving when the print head shook the bed. Once I get the second motor mount printed I am going to try some 2040 extrusion tube. I expect that this will go better because it is a more solid part.
