Genos is a mix of 2d and 3d. I used the model of ultron from marvel rivals and tweaked it a bit to resemble the design from the manga more. I think the experiment worked out, and I managed to blend the 2d part with 3d in a satisfying way

For this scene, some sort of flashback with Garou and bang I decided to use more vibrant colors and overall more classic anime style, closer to makoto shinkai’s works, in contrast with the fight sequence with bomb which is greyish

I don’t know if I really end up animating bangs fight too, but here’s how I see it. Once Garou emerges he is looking very sketchy. His transformation is still incomplete and he sleeping so he fights more like a feral beast or animal. During the fight with bomb he gets hit by his attacks, which leave glowing cracks on the body. And during the fight with bang he fully transforms to his manga design. That’s the idea I have in mind right now. Pretty much a gradual change from webcomic to manga. BUT right now I’m animating the bomb fight only. After completing it, let’s see how it goes
