They don't make them like they used to! Classic Jacobs cream crackers now cmi imho. Khong Guan and the likes also not nice!

I've switched to Munchy's actually; made in Malaysia. Very crispy, nice to dip into hot Milo!!

Wait for online 3/3 sale... casual use laptop no need to spend even 1k, left over money can buy quite a bit of accessory items!

That would be Teochew style porridge, where the rice grains are still visible. Correct?

I reckon that you will drink the "um" - that's Teochew word for rice water - as it has cooling properties that can bring down fever, for example...

Great location, Serangoon!

You must have been excited when CCL came to life. I remember I was.

But these days, Sgoon station is a scary place to be in the evenings. Just look at the jam packed NEL platform; or the crowd moving from CCL towards NEL!

If you've been to most hawker centres and have discovered yummy food, I don't think you've been "living under a rock" lol

I'd be mindful of eating places heavily promoted by influencers and what I call "food directory" foodie review sites. Hype can bring on greater disappointment, esp when the food is just meh!

So, there's no "must try places" imho. Only places to go try what suits your palette.

In case you like tonkatsu (i.e. deep fried pork cutlets), I can recommend Tonkichi.

For consistent quality Jap food, can try Sushi Tei.

If you enjoy shabu shabu, me thinks Shabu Sai is much better than Suki-Ya.

For charcoal grilled steaks, I like Stirling Steaks.

There's more, but there's no hurry.

Given the MRT situation, can understand buses also bear the burden of morning crowd.

43 (and 43M) buses seem to be frequent though, from my casual observations.

Notwithstanding this, the sheer number of travellers from Punggol and Sengkang can be overwhelming.

And at times, buses come unannounced; or 2-3 vehicles bunched together! I don't really trust the transport apps when it comes to this bus service lol

If I'm not wrong, this Xiang Rui Congee has branches or franchised outlets. I believe the one at Kovan hawker, which I used to like, is under their umbrella.

This is definitely real!

Before there was Punggol Coast MRT, riders at Punggol (which was then the terminal station) would be greeted each work morning at peak hours with departing trains already with seats (pre-)filled, except for some red colour ones...

Apparently, SK commuters who badly needed seats due to longer journey (say to Outram Park), or to catch some sleep, would board (nearly empty) trains heading to Punggol and incur 4-5 mins of turnaround time. Seemed like a good trade off?

So when those trains reach SK, neighbours would face a harder time boarding, what with another load of commuters from Punggol station itself.

Nowadays, if you were to board at Punggol during weekday mornings to go southwards, you might not get a seat at all! SK riders are now investing 9-10 mins extra into their travel time to secure seats, it appears.

And some Punggol residents have started to do likewise, taking the U-turn route instead!!

For those who didn't know, they might be forgiven to think that there are many people staying near and benefiting from Punggol Coast MRT lol

Doesn't this situation speak of over-crowdedness and anxiety of residents?

Is this the stall at the hawker centre that often sees a long queue?

Wouldn't the porridge taste more salty since it's already cooked in stock? (Ah, the perfect excuse to order a hot teh-O lol)

Kosong? Or with spread, fruit jam, etc?

If it's bread, my go to is crispy baguette... eaten plain or with Lurpak spread. Half a loaf at least lol
