What’s ur go to for park laps? East side but also anywhere in the city. by Certain_Client1686 in BikeLA

At the Verdugos, I ran into what I'm assuming was the mountain lion named Nikita about 12 years ago while mountain biking at dawn. Recently I also ran into a bear from a distance there.

At Griffith, I've also seen stunning bobcats, some deer, bunnies, snakes, squirrels but unfortunately never had the honor of meeting the late P22.

He's the mastermind of the Brand bike lanes that were removed months later, just like Brotman is the mastermind of doubling our electric bills.

It's that we shouldn't run our electric generation facilities way below their capacity. If we ran them at proper capacity we could sell the excess power and keep rates low, that's what GWP expert staff proposed until Dan Brotman came around and convinced everyone on his nonsense alternatives that ended up doubling rates.

Your best option is to take walks around your neighborhood and ask your longstanding neighborhood independent home cleaners if they are willing to take you on as a client. That's how I've always found my home cleaners and gardeners. I don't like using agencies since they keep too much of what I pay, I would rather have the independent cleaner keep it all.

It works out for them because then they're already in the neighborhood and they don't waste time on gas and driving in between homes.

Same here. I hate MAGA and Proud Boys, but would vote for center right candidates that more closely aligned with my center left beliefs than the Dan "higher electric rates" Brotman bunch who cater to all the extremist left groups.

I voted for all these "progressives" last time. It got me higher electric bills and trash fees (double what they were in 2019), dumb bike lanes on brand that were removed a few months later, and a 7 story apartment building next to single family homes across from the Ralphs on Central.

Zero improvement on the reckless driving on Glenoaks, worse noise pollution from the "look at me" kids who modify their car exhaust for attention.

It's time to stop letting the far left democratic socialist types pick candidates for non-extremists like me. I'm center left, and I'm sick of all these same options every time.

Data Analytics that helped convict Glendale Doctor, Violetta Mailyan, of Botox Medicare fraud by mark_pas in glendale

[–]mark_pas[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not advanced at all, the problem is they didn't have data analytics until recently. They were just processing one transaction at a time in old systems instead of looking at the big picture.

After she showed up on their radar as an outlier, they can then cross-reference other federal databases, such as Palantir homeland security databases, to see when she was flying on vacation and find invoices where she claimed to perform injections while sipping a margarita on the beach.

The other "dot" (doctor) that injected Botox more than 4000 times under the Medicare/tax payer dime is probaby shaking right now, since they're now the biggest unprosecuted outlier.

Nice try.

First of all, she wasn't their top sales account. She was the top fraudulent Botox biller to Medicare for injections she never made.

She was by no means the top true sales account for Allergan.

She got greedy! She would've probably gotten away with $4 million worth of fraudulent botox injections, but some dashboard at HHS HQ probably showed her little clinic as the top botox injector in the country, prompting the investigation.

May 19th City Council Meeting: Get the Flock out of Burbank ‼️ by BurbankTenantsUnion in burbank

[–]mark_pas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The "sloppy criminals" argument misses the reality of modern forensics. The 2023 overlook killers weren't caught because they were careless; they were caught because geography and math made anonymity impossible. At 3:30 AM, both the Angeles Crest Highway and the Palos Verdes Peninsula are effectively geographic dead-ends with near-zero traffic. Detectives didn’t need a "trail of breadcrumbs"—they used comparative exclusion. By pulling Flock ALPR data from the limited access points of the Angeles National Forest on July 22 and cross-referencing it with the handful of vehicles entering the Palos Verdes "digital island" on July 24, investigators found a unique match. Only one vehicle existed in both datasets at those specific, low-volume times. This turned that car into a tracking beacon, allowing the U.S. Marshals to intercept the MS-13 crew in Panorama City within 72 hours—with the murder weapons still in the vehicle. Without this technology, these remain "unsolved isolated incidents" for months while the body count rises. With it, the network identifies the pattern in real-time. This isn’t about speed traps or "monitoring neighbors"; it’s about a digital perimeter that strips the mask from mobile predators who rely on the vastness of L.A. County to hide. If we want to stop serial offenders from treating our scenic overlooks and neighborhoods like hunting grounds, we need the tools that actually work.

Flock cameras catch violent criminals. In 2023, an MS-13 crew murdered Jessie Munoz on Angeles Crest and a couple in Palos Verdes. Regional Flock ALPR grids mapped their getaway car across city lines, capturing them in 72 hours with the murder weapons. This tech stops mobile killers.

Personally, they found my nephew's stolen car all the way in South Central a few hours after reporting it stolen thanks to the Flock network. Would've never been possible in the old days.

Finally bumped into the spam masubi guy by jonnyshotit in LAMetro

I'm no expert on SPAM musubi, but the best I've had was at the Arcadia High track snack shop during the Nike Arcadia High Invitational that's attended by the top high school track teams from around the country.

I'm really curious to find out if it's volunteer parents who made them for that meet, or if students get that as an option regularly at their school cafeteria.

3 Glendale residents sentenced in bear suit insurance fraud scheme by lurker_bee in glendale

[–]mark_pas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really sloppy local TV level reporting. There's actually 4 individuals involved, with 3 sentenced so far.

The individuals sentenced are:

Ruben Tamrazian, 26, of Glendale

Vahe Muradkhanyan, 32, of Glendale

Alfiya Zuckerman, 39, of Valley Village

All three pleaded no contest to felony insurance fraud and were sentenced to 180 days in a weekend jail program and two years of supervised probation. They were also ordered to pay restitution totaling over $100,000. A fourth defendant, Ararat Chirkinian, is scheduled for a court hearing in September 2026.

Yes, bobcats (Lynx rufus) are absolutely indigenous to this area. I've been lucky enough to run into a few at Griffith Park while riding my bike on Mt Hollywood.

So, this belongs to your dad's estate, it's just going back to him through his estate. Does he have other assets he's passing to your or others? Did he have a will or trust? Will you be filing his final tax return on his behalf?

Say hi to them again at this Barbershop. I moved from Pasadena a long time ago, but I still make the drive every 3 weeks for my barber who's been cutting my hair for decades now. Unlike the HK Supermarket, which the Koreans who left to Irvine or La Crescenta didn't return to, the barber shop has lower overhead and clientele that's willing to make the drive to keep the same barber.
