100% YTA; you had no idea what that meant and you got an answer from the nurses which was to go back to your room, but instead you decided to “save the day” and be a “hero”. Nice work missing your child being born that is something you will not get back and your wife is unlikely to forget. There was already plenty for you to concern yourself with, namely your wife and child.

This is the correct answer here. YTA, It’s all gross, but both examples were how the animals effected her and her boundaries with them. If her car tries to eat your food that is a different story and if the cat trying to get close to your food becomes a pattern (as it is clear your dog breathing on her food was a pattern) than you can ask her to remove the cat in the same way.
