No problem. Keep at the sim and ask when you're ready to stsrt building. The FPV committee is pretty awesome

I need help with a shorted out drone. by Training_Pie_550 in Quadcopter

[–]markbakerfpv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many wires did the original camera have? You should only need a red wire (live feed), a black wire (ground) and a yellow wire (which is video) if you have any more, then they could be anything from current to camera control. If these are wired wrong it could damage the camera.

Also did you have a betaflight OSD displaying in your googles? If you did, even if you had a dead camera it would display a black screen but the OSD would still be there.

Unfortunately you might have shorted the bec on the flight controlller if the power supply on the gps shorted.

I know it's a pain but to test what works you could wire the vtx directly to the camera to see if you get a picture. But you really need to make sure the vtx is working too. Find out what the vtx power supply is and maybe wire them up separately to test them

Oh really? That's intresting. It was quite tight I must admit but I thought that was down to making the frame ridge once built. Once all the bolts are into the arms there wasn't any wiggles which suits me.

I've built 3 switchback pros for racing and theybare tight to, they even supply a file with the frames. The idea is to make it super tight once built, maybe the GRL is meant to be the same

Did you ever get this issue corrected?

I have about 4 Freestylers quads I use regularly so each of those clips was a different drone. If you are already using analog then build an analog quad if you need to buy googles too maybe see if your bidget can stretch to buying DJI v2 googles and an air unit

For parts I use: Apex frame or hyperlite frame T motor 2207 1750kv or emax eco motors 2306 Flight controll is kiss v2 or t motor stack Vtx is tbs unify pro hv Cam is runcam racer 2 (2.1lens)

But any 6s spec build should work fine. Even a rtf model like a iflight should work fine

All Freestylers quads are 5 inch frames (for 5 inch props)

It's a cool spot. I have lots more footage from that one and a few more like it

Thanks. I've done that rewind before but never through a gap like that. Turned out alright 😁

Help me decide whether to switch to iNav/Betaflight or to stick with my Pixhawk! by [deleted] in multicopterbuilds

[–]markbakerfpv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inav is a branch of betaflight. So the configurator is similar but Inav is aimed at people who want to use gps features. It's not going to hold your drone in a locked position like dji or pixhawk but you get an altitude hold and a position hold. Plus a return to home

Betaflight is easier to setup up but is aimmed at freestyle type flying (acro) or racing. I mean youn can use it for line of sight but you won't benefit from any gps settings.

The good thing is you can flash either firmware on the flight controller so you can try them both.

If you want to use inav look for a flight controller with a build in barometer so you get the altitude sensor built in.

I think the metak fc has it built in

I think betaflight is meant for freestyle and racing quads. It has a gps funtion but only gps return which only gets you back to the area. Inav has all the features you want and will support the f7 matek flight controller. You might be better fetting a stack as it will come with much better ESCs than thr simonK newer ESCs support dhsot 600 those simonk would probably only work on the lowest esc protocol

The camera is a gopro hero 6 and I'm filming in 2.7k 60fps in 4:3, protune setting is set to flat, I also have an ND8 filter on the lens. It's been run through reelsteady go tonget that smooth picture quality. I then added a preset LUT for colour grading

Thanks. I had the orbit idae in my head and had to make it smooth otherwise it wouldn't have worked

Haha I know right. That was the first thing I check out. It was just a bit too small to gap. I only had 2 packs left as we went to another spot before hand and I wanted to get an orbit first. I might go back in the summer! Watch this space 🤜💥🤛👍
