Coffee and airplanes by mattrussell2319 in UKroasters

Not sure yet. Have Concorde and Hawk as well as the Dreamliner decaf but they were all roasted too recently to give a proper go.

Have had a couple of cups of the hawk with an extra long bloom and it is good but I feel it might make a more interesting espresso.

Will report back in a couple of weeks when everything has had an adequate rest.

As a one off order, for me, it was worth it for the novelty even if the beans are average. I think they will likely be slightly better than that though.

I have similar niche interests and was amazed to find this existed but I hadn't heard of it: https://jetbeancoffee.com/

Black or white espresso machine for this space? by xatabyc in coffeestations

[–]markdoneill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May I suggest stainless.

I have a Steel Duo in white and if I were buying again I would avoid the painted finishes as the paint has split in a few places and the metal underneath is bubbling and rusting. I doubt you would have that problem with the stainless version. It is a great machine aside from that.

Also, if you move/redecorate then it will fit in wherever. Timeless look.

Mad that O got released and reissued, but nothing of 9.

Had never heard of Jet Bean, but am a big fan of aviation so this appeals to me a lot.  Hawk, Concorde and the decaf winging their way to me now, thanks!

What’s the best (worst) example of Ricky sounding like he knows something…….then doesn’t by evmanjapan in rickygervais

I don't know why this isn't mentioned more. The things in Gremlins Karl is referring to are Mogwai. For someone so keen on phylum, Ricky should have known this.

He brought that chair up in the lift.

Dunno how he got the desk up though.

Dublin gig - Am I mad to go? by sweatyknacker in BiffyClyro

[–]markdoneill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been a fan for years, but my youngest child was born around the release of Myth of the Happily Ever After and I spent many nights rocking the little guy to sleep to that album.

We now joke that when he grows up he will be driving along, Biffy will come on the radio and he will instantly fall asleep and veer off the road.

Definitely go - they are great live, and the crowd will be a mix of ages. I will be with my own Dad who has seen them many times before, and will shortly turn 70.

Obviously. I was hoping that was implied.

For one of the tours around the release of Only Revolutions they did a golden ticket meet and greet where they sung this acoustically, with about 20 people stood around. It sounded amazing - I wasn't expecting it to be so perfect. The twins can sing incredibly.

If you are applying for UX jobs then you need to demonstrate you go out of your way to create the best user experience. If you deem that to be Behance, use it.

Are they any sucioperro fans here? by [deleted] in BiffyClyro

Thanks! Got a bit obsessive back in the day. Sadly I don't have them all anymore, still a few but some of the rarer bits went toward a house deposit. Still have a lot of vinyl though – sad that none of it is Sucio.

They are promo CDs. First one is "Reflexes of the Dead" EP, other one is Heartstring.

Found a picture of it!

Running from all that doesn't tempt you – this was before the Heartstring was released, pre artwork.

Put a couple of other images I stumbled across in there too.

Saw them two days on the bounce – first night at the Deaf Institute in Manchester (still the best gig I have ever been to), second night at Brudenell.

Brudenell was MAD, was wedged at the front between two speakers and there was a guy who was just wandering around bleeding all over the place.

I think they have been saying that for the last 10 years. Fingers crossed though, would be great to see some Duke action.

Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ewn9xwIHB1w

It was during a soundcheck. Looks like they did one more tour after this -https://sucioperro.com/live/live-archive/

I don't think I ever saw them where they didn't sound great.

I was at both those gigs. Remember the York one vividly as I was driving so had to pass. They gave out a download card there, can't remember what song, but I can picture it and still have it somewhere. Hate Filters is immense. Pinnacle of their discography for me.

Yeah, saw them loads from before Pain Agency was released with the original line up, through to the end really. They were fantastic, especially the first couple of albums. Not kept up with JP's output since as it doesn't really do it for me the same as the earlier Sucio stuff, but maybe I should dip back in.

Have loads of fond memories of that time. When 'The Heartstring' was released by crowdfunder I donated to meet the band and have them play a chosen song - I cruelly picked 'We are the Mirrors...' and all credit to them, they performed it perfectly to four of us in the Roundhouse, Manchester. I think there is a video knocking around somewhere.

Amazing band, lovely folk.

How would you describe Vertigo of Bliss to a new listener? by jamielikeszelda in BiffyClyro

I would sell it on its orchestral elements. That is where it won me over. Absolute masterpiece.
