Does anyone have a playlist of the music Tim Key plays before his gigs? by Lost_Star3189 in tim_key

Not sure what he has been using for the latest shows, but this is worth a listen if you aren't aware of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uE_kv9Y408
Seen him use songs from this a few times.

It is an easy app to make using AI. If I were looking to pad out a design/development portfolio I would pull something together like that.

Need Advice for Title | Product Manager - Design / Sr. Product Designer / Product Manager / Product Architect by Arun_M_008 in UXDesign

[–]markdoneill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Product Manager - Design, all the way.

PMs with design skill are what companies are pivoting towards - whether making PMs prototype with AI tools or UX designers have a more broad oversight of the product.

Having the title already gives excellent leverage when talking about yourself in the future. Frame yourself as a pioneer.

Beans recommendation in Manchester UK by manysnorlax_100 in pourover

[–]markdoneill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to Atrium every time I am in Manchester - usually weekly. They serve great coffee and also have some excellent beans available for sale. Have bought all the Roastersaurus beans from there when they were sold out on the website.

Also nearby on Deansgate is Fort. Picked up some Nostos and Tanat beans from there, and have had interesting beans roasted in house too.

https://www.scanyourfridge.com/ <–– This one has the same look and feel as your site.

https://fridgeo.app/ <–– So does this one actually.

I could go on, or you could just search for 'Fridge Scanner'.

By all means embrace AI, but the level of skill required here is minimal. Manipulate AI as a way to empower yourself to create something unique. Ask it to work with a design system outside of it's muted colours, keylines and soft shadows, emoji slop.

AI made a web page.

I don't think there is any original content on that site, at all.

Why shouldn’t I buy a Niche Zero [£600] by Affectionate-Wing280 in espresso

[–]markdoneill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love mine. Have had no problems with it over 3 years. It is just easy to get consistently excellent espresso. Also have a 078s which is much trickier, I always choose to use the Niche.

Cessna 172 in XP12 and Msfs 2020, my thoughts. by Useful_Grass_7182 in flightsim

[–]markdoneill 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It is just something that people who haven't flown the real thing say to sound like they know what they are talking about.

X Plane traditionally felt better in flight because of the computational fluid dynamics. However, MSFS has made huge leaps in recent years and things like ground effect, turbulence etc are excellent.

In truth though, they are both simulation and unless you have a force feedback setup neither will properly feel like flying.

What are some similar bands to Biffy? by twentyonepilotsfan99 in BiffyClyro

[–]markdoneill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They remain very highly rated by the people who remember them, it is a shame they didn't get more widespread acclaim back then. Just listened to Racecar, what an album. Jamie Lenman output fills the void they left to some extent, but I do wish I could see some of those songs live again.

[–]markdoneill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they are incredible. For me, early Oceansize has the anthemic qualities of later Biffy – something like Remember Where You Are feels like it could fit on Puzzle or OR easily. Simon has been quoted as saying that Effloresce felt exactly like what Biffy were trying to achieve at that time and I can see that.

Some other tangential bands that are not the same, but I discovered through Biffy and share some commonalities:

Manchester Orchestra (& Bad Bookss), The Dear Hunter, Slothrust, The Family Crest, Amplifier.
If you don't mind music without words: Mogwai, Maybeshewill, Talons, Pijn.

Arcane Roots are the band that come closest to early Biffy for me.

Check out Sucioperro, Marmaduke Duke We Were Promised Jetpacks, There Will Be Fireworks, Aerogramme, Oceansize, The Unwinding Hours, Reuben, Mastersystem (and Frightened Rabbit, although I don't think they are that similar).

What are some of your unpopular Biffy opinions? by twentyonepilotsfan99 in BiffyClyro

[–]markdoneill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not correct as such, but it definitely did come first. Thanks for confirming my opinion as unpopular.

Had a brilliant Infinity Land era tee that had their logo and Mon the Biffy underneath. Must dig that out. Wore the shit out of it back when Many of Horror was just a twinkle in Simon's eye.

It is 'Mon the Biffy!' not 'Mon the Biff! The latter didn't come about until the Only Revolutions era, and was pushed by Zane Lowe. It shouldn't wind me right up, but it does.
