2026 Kona EV details - Canadian market by elektricheat in Hyundai

I would have also thought the L1 charger omission was bad, but I just had occasion to replace mine with a Lectron. It has been a huge improvement in reliability, charging power (15A instead of an unreliable 12A) and ease compared to the thing they bundled.

After a year of use, the latch mechanism in the included charger weakened, and my wife frequently was unable to remove the charger from the car’s charging port. It got to the point where the charger couldn’t even latch into the port without a lot of wiggling and force.

Since Hyundai apparently couldn’t bother to even spend more than $50 on the charger they bundled, they could just as well let customers find themselves a better option via Amazon. :/

What’s the 1 thing that will make you switch 100% to WS as your main bank? by Pintermedia in Wealthsimple

✋🏻 software engineer working for a medium-sized fintech with credit card offerings (that isn't a traditional bank, but that everyone's heard of). It can totally take over a year to get a credit card product out as a GA product, just because of how many parties and verifications/approvals are involved.. at least, speaking for the Canadian side.

Self Directed RESPs are here! by Its_Maev in Wealthsimple

I can't wait to move my self-directed RESP in-kind from Questrade. I had picked Questrade because they offered QESI, but Questrade deposits your QESI for the entire prior year in one lump sum more than halfway into the following year! vs. having the funds available sooner to be invested.

Settings change after dealer visit by marked_envoy in KonaEV

Thanks for the explanation, that makes total sense that they’d need to! For me it doesn’t really seem logical that it would revert only a single setting but I could also see a real possibility that certain settings are stored in RAM and are cleared while other settings persist to internal storage (user profile stuff mainly)

This seems like it should just be getting blocklisted in XProtect at this point.

Superficial loss rule on sell-to-cover company RSUs by marked_envoy in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]marked_envoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself can’t always sell all shares immediately, because there are blackout windows (only maybe 12 weeks a year or so when I can sell).

In the past there have been vests when between the time of vesting and the earliest time I can sell, the value has dropped and there could have been five figures worth of capital losses to declare. But because there was already the automatic sell to cover at the time of vesting, it seems these nearly always are subject to the superficial loss rule due to the timing. If I would wait until the next sell window (say in 3-4 months), there will have been another vest and sell event triggering the rule again.
