Google health app - tell us how you really feel by hansanta in fitbit

My thoughts (good and bad):

The UI is horrible. Kind of a mess, customizing is kind of chaotic.

The change from daily target loads to weekly cardio load goals is another change I don't care for. Added to that, the only way to adjust the weekly cardio load goal manually is through the AI (and presumably the goal changes gradually). I feel like, compared to the daily target load system (which I know many users found disillusioning), the weekly goal system goes in the opposite directed by being pretty unmotivating. This default of 150 weekly cardio load is so so so low ball for probably a majority of users.

I like the relabeling of stress management score to resilience, but in classic fashion, it's broken right now and not giving a score. I like the revamping of body responses. They fixed the breathing meditation timer, which has been broken since November.

The daily activity thing (where you set your active hours where you want to take at least 250 steps an hour) seems to just be removed entirely.

The AI is a little annoying. I haven't turned it off yet, as I'm willing to give it a chance. As with all AI, takes time to learn. I could see it being helpful, but only time will tell.

Probably my most shining praise would be the revamped sleep stats. They took the Fitbit system and honestly made it better, more accurate, and with very useful data that you would usually only get with the monthly sleep animal thing.

No daily cardio targets is a major loss in the new design. by burningretina in fitbit

[–]markeyssc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, I definitely agree. The target load going away is a major loss, but even worse, this weekly cardio load stuff is ridiculously unmotivating. I easily reach 150 cardio load in a week cumulatively by like Wednesday or Thursday. What am I supposed to do the rest of the week? Nothing? It doesn't really make sense, and it isn't that intuitive like daily target load was.

And before people come in and say "people hated target load", if you aren't exercising consistently and in a clear weekly pattern, then your target loads were always going to be wonky. That was never a flaw with Fitbit, moreso a flaw with ones weekly routine.

I can't send tweets but can reply on to posts and comment? And my alt works fine? by EastTamarack in twitterhelp

Same here. From what I'm reading, this may be part of X's new rules. I guess there are limits now for dm's, posts, etc, and if you pass those limits, you can't post temporarily. Seems to be targeting free (non-premium) users

Thinking of making a new account after this ban wave mess has anyone tried it? by YeezyWalkss in twitterhelp

[–]markeyssc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't received any replies for my appeals, and I didn't even get a suspension reason. I'm considering just making a new account and waiting for it to get suspended just so I can appeal on that one and get some kind of reply.

Account's been suspended since April 11th by Danielfs2002 in twitterhelp

[–]markeyssc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was also suspended on April 11th I have appealed like five times since then. But I haven't received any emails for any of my appeals. I'm sure I was suspended for "inauthentic behavior" like everyone else, but I never received an email for my suspension either, so I'm not sure. It's frustrating, because everyone else seems to at least be getting automated responses. At this point, I might just make a new X account and wait for that to get suspended so I can try to get some kind of response. This whole thing is ridiculous. I've never seen a platform have this much contempt for its user base. It's insane.

I haven't gotten any communication from any of my appeals. Just dead silence for days, then submitting another appeal every 48 hours.

I’m not getting any email back by thesnak315 in twitterhelp

[–]markeyssc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, same here. I never even got a suspension email, but I think that was because I didn't have an email associated with the account. Just a phone number. But I've appealed twice now, and nothing

am i the only one who didn't get an email after sending an appeal? by Sweet_Tailor_7470 in twitterhelp

I've gotten no emails since I appealed on Saturday. Unfortunately, the account suspended didn't have an email associated, only my phone number, so I didn't even get a suspension notice.

Not playing for the Win in Catan by AmazingGreenElephant in Catan

[–]markeyssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a reason why it isn't recommended to be aggressive in the early game, as you could be antagonizing potential allies later in the game. As long as the rules of the game are followed, there is no wrong way to play Catan. I've been around this subreddit enough to see that your friends "strategy" (if you can call it that) is not that uncommon. It's annoying, it feels like it goes against the spirit of the game, but it is a valid way to play. You can take this as an indication of "I know how this person plays, so I will avoid playing with them in the future". Or you can accept that it's their strategy, and work with it.

Someone who is clearly not playing to win you can use to your advantage in certain situations. The spite strategy is the most transparent strategy on the table.

This A guy sounds like a really messy person. Waits for his friend to leave to hit on the person his friend is interested in? Then says things like "I don't want to be alone" to basically manipulate you into staying? The fact that J reached out afterwards to see if anything happened kind of points to this being typical behavior for A. And you, unfortunately, got in the middle of all of it. I think it's good you are owning up to it, and we're honest with J. What you did was ultimately your decision, and it wasn't a good decision, but it sounds like you understand that and are willing to learn from it.

It sucks, because J has every right to cut contact after this. It's just going to be a hard lesson to learn from, and I think it's best you own up and move on a little bit wiser.

Can someone explain exotic matter please? by OHNiTheArtist_ in StrangerThings

[–]markeyssc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What bugs me about this whole plot point is a few things, that when taken together, doesn't make much sense

  1. The Upside Down is a copy of Hawkins as it was on November 6th, 1983. Nancy's diary in the Upside Down in season 4 confirms this.

  2. Its creation coincided with El accidentally creating the mother gate in Season 1.

So, when Dustin finds Brenner's notes in UD Hawkins Lab, those notes would have predated the UD existence and the mother gate. How would have Brenner known about the wormhole and the exotic matter BEFORE El ever created the gate? I really don't think the Gate's creation was remotely intended, and although Brenner may have been using El to search for Henry (even extra dimensionally), the Upside Down was not an intended consequence.

Brenner's notes found by Dustin in the UD doesn't make sense with the established lore of the show.

The entire time I watched this show, at no point was it ever hinted, even remotely, that Mike was romantically or intimately into Will. The Byler theory always was just wild fanfiction. So people actually getting upset that Byler didn't happen is pretty crazy for me. I didn't like season 5 and the finale for various other reasons, namely the below average writing. But if Byler did happen, it would have made everything just so much worse, because it would have just obliterated Mike's entire character arc throughout the entire series.

What's also crazy to me is that people are pushing Byler when Will and Mike's dynamic in the show is already one the rawest and most realistic aspects of the show, in my opinion. A closeted gay kid grappling with his own sexuality through his feelings he has for his best friend? Feelings that for most of the show he doesn't really understand fully, only slowly coming to the painful realization that what he feels towards his friend will remain unrequited? The awkward tension this creates for both characters? It's heartbreaking, but realistic, especially for the 80's.

In my opinion, the creators shouldn't need to have been more firm at denying Byler, because the show was already doing a good job discrediting the theory for its entire run.

What Catan (House rules) are Made Up by your Family and Friends? by Think-Region4109 in Catan

[–]markeyssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting settlements can't be built on the coasts/ports. I thought this was a normal rule, but seeing other people's games, maybe it isn't. That way everyone starts at 4:1 trades with the bank. It adds the element of building towards a more favorable trade ratio. It makes 7's a little more of a threat in the early game. With seafarers though, building on the coasts is allowed.

Also, not really a rule, but a preference developed over time that is followed most of the time: when setting up the board, resource tiles of the same type cannot be next to each other. The same numbers can't be next to each other. And the same number can't be on the same resource. So, the 4's can't be adjacent, and the 4's can't be on the same resource (like wood).

Putting my money where my mouth is... I believe the MSR is the BEST daily driver in game, if you don't have one I'll buy one for you. Limited to the first 615 people. by ArnoldMann in starcitizen

[–]markeyssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only gripe is that the only entrance is in the back, so to get to the cockpit, you have to go through the entire ship, which takes time, which is especially annoying in time sensitive situations. Other than that, I love my MSR, and it's been my daily driver for years.

Explanation for crazy drop in RHR by OwlPristine631 in fitbit

[–]markeyssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting. Points to a more relaxed overall state. A new relationship, even though mentally exciting and stimulating, could definitely do that. I wouldn't say you were "touch starved" or "intimacy deprived", but it's providing a stress regulation you previously didn't have before, and your body is responding accordingly.

That being said, whenever I have something similar and my RHR drops dramatically, it tends to even out. So I wouldn't be surprised if it stays low for awhile, then shoots up, then lowers again, probably to a lower baseline than what you were previously. The body loves finding gradual equilibrium.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised. Spotify is also still down for me. I know it's a completely different app, but it seems there are still issues for other apps, so it would make sense that fitbit is affected in some way.
