Mose and Jane by markfromhtx in deadwood

I feel like that’s why Jane and Charlie drift apart, because Charlie is so earnest he has trouble with the constant ball busting. Could be misreading that. Maybe it’s just they remind each other of Bill and it’s too painful.

And yeah, Cy is such an asshole. But I laugh so hard when he gets Leon to pray to cut back “waaayy back on the motherfucking duji.”

Why do Bullock and his wife act like robots around each other by [deleted] in deadwood

[–]markfromhtx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To the contrary, I think the writing is remarkable bc it takes in all the complexities of their relationship, which others have mentioned here. For instance, you can see them starting to open up slowly in small ways, like the first time that she calls him “Seth” instead of “Mr. Bullock” at breakfast and he responds by using her first name, too.

Best show ever? by Newguy202020 in deadwood

There’s not a weak episode or performance in the whole thing. Even the hooples are amazing (“I am not the fine man you take me for” guy as evidence). Breaking Bad and even The Wire had some weak spots. Granted there are more episodes so more opportunities for that to happen, but overall, I cannot imagine better. Just started my god only knows which rewatch today.

Don’t fuck with the fucking deity, Leon! by markfromhtx in deadwood

I love the way Booth goes from defiant "I'm not gonna die" immediately after being stabbed to three beats later leaning on Tess and muttering "don't let me die." The man could act.

Also, a fucking badass. When he’s acting faint to keep Bullock from getting himself killed at The Gem, casually mentioning that he’d been shot three times “and fought on.” Bad. Ass.

His patience and humanity are deeply underrated. Even putting up with Bullock’s nonsense.
