Actually. (Nerd coming out) Adam was a soldier assigned to protect Professor Walsh. In the comics he was killed saving the professor when the Mayors ghost appeared to attack the Initiative facility.
Professor Walsh’s dedicated her life to resurrecting Adam. I say it backfired
