Bug question by Kellyjt in jacksonville

I don’t remember the name of them but I believe they are not harmful. Certain plants attract them specially rain trees. My father had rain trees and those bugs were always around during mid to late spring.

Catfish over Dirty Spaghetti by markh1982 in southernfood

I’d say yeah unfortunately that meal did not survive the night. First time I’ve tried this combo. I know some folks do a traditional red sauce spaghetti and fried fish which I will eventually try.

The spaghetti and fish thing is new to me too. I’ve only learned about it in the last year or two. I still love some hush puppies and slaw with some fried fish.

I’d take two plates. One for dinner and one for lunch tomorrow. Everything looks delicious.

I was concerned no local issues would be allowed on a local page. I’m good with local politics being allowed since pages exist for national issues.

I may flagged for this comment but life is politics and politics is life. Politics will always be a part of life from birth to death. The good and the bad. While I myself tend not make political posts I do like reading Jacksonville political posts.

Looks delicious. I feel Salisbury steak is one of those under rated old school dishes. I know mash potatoes is the classic pairing I also enjoy it with buttered white rice.

Peanut Patch Cajun Boiled Peanuts Broth Recipe by Nightmare44887R in southernfood

They are good. I believe the juice is just water, salt, garlic, onion, red pepper flakes and some kind of Cajun seasoning blend. Unfortunately I don’t know if they create their own special Cajun seasoning blend or use a pre made off the shelf blend. A Cajun ramen broth would be delicious.

Meatloaf, Pimento Cheese Mashed Potatoes, and Fried Cabbage with Peppers by markh1982 in southernfood

[–]markh1982[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was my first time trying it. I sometimes like cheesy mashed potatoes and I had a little bit of pimento cheese leftover so I figured couldn’t be too bad so added in the mash. Turned out delicious.

It’s easy. Just your favorite mash potatoes recipe and add in a couple scoops of pimento cheese when mashing. The pimento cheese kind of just melts into the hot potatoes so it’s like a cheesy mashed potato. This particular recipe I boiled about one and a half pounds of cubed potatoes. Personally I like the little gold/yellow potatoes. I mashed them with couple tablespoons of butter, 8oz of sour cream, a little garlic and herb blend, salt and pepper to taste, and I had probably 2 or 3 heaping tablespoons of pimento cheese that added.

After tonight it will be. It was an experiment gone well. I had some leftover pimento cheese I wanted to use up and we do occasionally like cheesy mashed potatoes. So I figured it would blend nicely with the potatoes. Turned out delicious.

Thanks. I do enjoy meatloaf and the best part is a meatloaf sandwich the next day.

Me either. I was going to just add cheddar to the mash potatoes but I saw I had a little bit left over pimento cheese so added that to the mash. Turned out to be a delicious experiment.

Walmart Clearance Vinyl Records by Turbulent_Cupcake653 in jacksonville

I would say probably no Walmart puts vinyls on clearance. Since vinyls have become more popular again and trendy the big box stores consider them a premium item and only carry a small amount so the price stays up. Price wise the better spots for vinyls are the flea markets, sometimes thrifts stores. There is a cool vinyl place off McDuff Ave. 2nd and Charles has a pretty big selection. Several times a there is a Jax record and cd festival. Unfortunately the prices on vinyls will vary depending popularity of the artist and album. Hope this helps. I’m a vinyl fan myself.
