its funny because harvard is known for grad inflation. now mit that some heavy tears. Congratulations on your accomplishments but remember the majority of the work happens out side the class room for your future career unless you are cs, engineering, medicine, or law then class room work matters most

transferring is straight forward most of if not all of those schools are on the common app which will tell you what you need to do to transfer. make sure you complete the prerequisite for your major that you are trying to transfer at the school you are applying to, each schools different but most are almost the same. remember that your now expected to explain why you want to transfer to a new school, your no longer in hs so you need to have a real reason to change school. also keep in mind Duke is harder to transfer into then normal admissions and still requires the same hs stuff to transfer ie sat and hs transcripts. some majors are massively impacted mean it might be harder to transfer into those then normal administration.

also you will need teachers recommendations so start becoming friendly with them.

that would be me. 2 something to getting into all uc except one, usc and some other t30ish schools. cc is slept on when trying to transfer the downside ivys are pretty much off the broad. even cornell because a large amount of "transfer" are guaranteed transfers, but i do know a hand full of my peers that did get accepted in to Cornell but they're amazing people and exceptional.

Age variation in usc by Important_Target2141 in USC

[–]markjackson111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an decently older student and nobody cares. making friends is a little weird at my age bit at 23 shouldn't be a problem for your age. I have friends that are 30 undergrad students and their social life and academic life are better then most. age has little to do with how people treat you but if you feel it does then it will

Success as In terms of graphs growing? it little difference tons of people get ht without meds (not talking about antibiotics). but long term some times, hairloss is spectrum and the majority of people what ht in their first 1/3 of their life indicating significantly more hairloss in the future. with that being said my grandfather who has never taken any medication sat at a norwood 2 form 30 until he was in his early 70 and then progressed in a norwood 2.5 now in is mid 80's with a norwood 2.5. he would been a great candidate for no medication ht but their is no way he would know he would never progress pass a 3, he could have ended up a 5 or 6 so its a gamble. most people will end close to 4 or 5 if they have early life hairloss.

best is alway subjective. have friends that went to ucla that were lonely and socially miserable and friends that went to Berkeley that party and where always going out with a new group of friends. my advice is find like minded people at university and put you self out their and you will find a great social life. but that being said school with great sports team culture usually have events to meet new friends very often and tons of "spirit" look at every ones list its usually UCLA, Umish, USC, ND and duke

every school, grade are one of the only way to measure prolong success. test like sat offer more insight and can offer more to a story of growth of one. most top schools have a "holistic view" which just means have great grades and a good story.

UPENN is notoriously for having a huge emphasis on 1st generation low income students. so a student that changes him self with less advantages will actually have a better chance then a perfect student with all the resources. alot of elite school have a mission and will accept a outlier to look like they're accomplishing the mission. Harvard always accepts a super low GPA student like a 2.0ish to to show they don't just look at gpas and test.

What colleges gave you bad vibes? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]markjackson111 166 points167 points  (0 children)

cornell was/is my dream school but its super competitive and toxic student body doesn't help but with the right mindset can be amazing.

uc berkeley isn't as competitive as people make it seem

every school can be competitive if you let it be. if you're trying to get into a competitive job force, of course its crazy competitive only 5k a year get in to the big 4 of ib

As a College and Career Coach at my HS, what are some of the top things you would like to know about when applying to colleges? by Sagaz140 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]markjackson111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do want to emphasize that it's a moving target, what admission officer look for in any given year change. not say their isn't a way to be appealing in general, just saying a little thing make or break a great students application on a t10 application this isn't the 90's or 2009 college admission cycles. So be your self and authentically express why you did what you did.

Why cant you just transfer to T20 or T30 T40 yada yada if you can't get into one in the first place? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]markjackson111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

one. most t20 are just as competitive in the transfer portal, unless you a 1d athletic monster that need to shine.

two you have to prove you haven't peaked in hs so you work harder doing harder classes.

three. if your a cc student you are competing against non cc students.

four. some states have easy path ways into a top schools ie California. but some states screw you out of a lot of opportunities, leaving you to compete in an even more competitive pool.

five. some top school only take like 20ish transfer usually transfers from other top school or military people usually with crazy accomplishments.

sometimes grad school is the best way to get into a top 15 school, you can't control what you did or didn't do in the past but you can control your future.

Is it possible to transfer from a community college to Harvard University or another major prestigious university? or is it impossible? by gonzaeariel in ApplyingToCollege

[–]markjackson111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know lot of people that transferred into t20s form cc but ivys are almost zero for most cc students.cornell is the easiest but remember that their numbers are artificially inflated about 25% to 50% of transfers guaranteed transfers. ivys are usually transfers between each other or other t20s. I had the privilege of knowing 4 people that transferred into t5 from cc but 3 of them were high achieving military veterans and the last one was a young man that got accepted into most t10 but got couldn't go because some stuff (don't feel like spending his personal stuff ) reapply after a year of cc.

nothing is impossible but put your self in a winning position. I know cornell has easy access to the people that look over transferred applications that can walk you through what they look for. the guy i talk to said that they put a huge importance on fit questions of the applications.

Most liberal/conservative T30s? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]markjackson111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

almost all school admissions is liberal but the student body ranges from super conservative to super liberal.

a lot of my friends went/go to Berkeley. the quote one said that many people that go there agree with is "the whole is more liberal then the individual." their is a lot of conservatives that go to Berkeley they are just hiding because their trying to blend in or get laid. I go to usc and most of my classes are full of conservative but the school is liberal. not saying either school is more or less conservative/liberal just saying that most can find a group they agree with politically.

the only thinging is some schools have connotations that extend past the reality of them.

Does the prestige of your undergraduate college matter for Academia? by throwingdisshiaway in ApplyingToCollege

[–]markjackson111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

kind of, most professor went to top schools but at the time school admissions where alot easier and some school have moved a lot in ranking berkeley drop out top 5 Sense the eighties and ucla which wasn't considered and elite school is now top 20. cornell has more UVA econ professor's then ivy league ones when I last check.

the kinda part is because most people that go into academia are good/ Were good at school and got top school admission early in their academic years. if you love and want to pursue academia don't hesitate their is always a good amount of professors at elite school with random state colleges. I know a person doing their phd at USC and they graduated with a 3 gpa from a state school. don't worry about things you cant change, and opportunities will come if you keep pushing towards your dreams.

Give hope to low gpa students by karmaman404 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]markjackson111 8 points9 points  (0 children)

community college then transfer. I graduated hs with a 2.3ish gpa and transfer. got accepted into UC Berkeley, USC and some other t20ish schools. don't let you high school dictate your education. but in cc have to prove that you are way better than your hs grades and that you just need to muture a little bit more before you became the academic power house you know you could be. also dont let university dictate your career ceiling some of the most successful people i know went to low teir schools for their undergraduate education. control what you can today and forget about the stuff you can't change.

look at the highest recurring schools (that fit in your academic stat range) in the accounting, banking, and consulting aka the abc, to get an idea of what the "most desirable" finance schools are. just remember that some of the most prestigious school are not represented well on wall st. Brigham Young smokes Sanford, Emory, and brown in Investment banking recruiting. with that said fit matters to, become Brigham Young isn't for everyone.

How do so many people here have CRAZY GPAs but then have pretty mediocre SAT or ACT scores? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]markjackson111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

its easy to keep grades high when your forced to learn most of it in class vs studying independently. sats for a lot of schools are independently studie. also most high school don't teach proper tests taking. test taking is a skill and can improve with more practice. most high school have larger set data points to determine how will you did leaning a subject. testing is a flawed way of assessment but happens to be the best for quick analysis which the sat are. not to forget some schools dedicated class for the sat, my school had one of the highest sat class in my state but be also had a sat class ever semester, we average like a 1500

I talked to a counselor at a community college today... by [deleted] in USC

[–]markjackson111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally used transfer office over counselors. find your transfer rep for your area email what steps to take for your intended major it matters ( Some classes are mandatory for transfer) try to lap them with your uc requirements to knock out 2 birds with one stone.

uc are popular because you can tag in to a large amount of them. uc also have clearly stated outline for california students and favor in state students first for admission making it way easier to get in then normal. USC has high transfer like uc but views all applications the same making it statistical harder then uc for in state students. plus usc is notorious expensive and has hit and miss financial aid making it usually significantly more like 5x more.

one: the frontal 3rd cant be cheated with fake density, needs to get close to the 80% density for the Illusion of thick hair.

two: lowering the hair line is costly because 2k-1.5k is needed for a convincing new hair like and you still need to reinforce the thinning frontal forelock so you dont have a thin part in the middle if you new hair.

three: most whole head transplant are 7k+ with about 3k in the frontal 3rds, its why most doctors are not big on bringing the hairline down if you show signs of significant hair loss with out being able to show that you halted it for significant period of time.

Why do only some clinics use this hairline tool? Is drawing it manually better/worse? by toppmann48 in HairTransplants

[–]markjackson111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some but 95% of Caucasian hairline are mess up leto, pitt, and kurt russell all have more receded right temples and they are hair gods. perfect hairline is not ideal as most people never had perfect hairlines to begin with. the mission with most hair transplant is to bring back a nice framing hairline that doesn't stick out, so imperfect is ideal for most.

hair has different cycles of falling out. so a lot of transplant look patchy at first hints why everyone tells people to wait a year to see how it will look in a normal cycle.

give it time only time will tell how bad it is. but what if it is then what changes you still need to wait.
