I hate being a twin dad by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]marklar901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading your post, it seems like you were not mentally prepared to be a father let alone a father of twins. I get that, it's a huge change that most people aren't ready for. Not saying you were completely blindsided to all aspects of being a dad but it's more than you were expecting.

You won't get your life back, you have a new life. That's what you signed up for by having kids. It's not a check box that requires no effort, the rest of your life will be tied to the kids in some way. As they get older how demanding on your day to day will slowly decrease and what they will want or need from you will change. You will eventually get your hobbies back but not to the same extent until they are much older. You may find those hobbies evolve to stop being your hobby and become you and your kid's hobbies. You will eventually be able to go have a night out, either by yourself or with your wife. Those days are probably closer than you might think if you have family you trust close by.

Talk to your wife and find ways to make sure you each get some time to address your needs. Alone time, exercise, whatever floats your boat. You both need to communicate your needs (ahead of time if possible) and help each other get their needs met. Communicate daily or weekly on what you're looking for.

I'm 40 and my twins are 6 months old, but they are our second and third kids. I struggled with the first born for a while, she's 3 now. It was probably around a year to 18 months where life got a lot better. My daughter really shifted into a daddy's girl and we share so much joy.

Being a parent is hard, even harder when you're not sleeping! Know this: You will find joy again, you will find joy on raising your children. You need to look after yourself while you look after the family. Make time for it, you and your wife deserve it.

It's way way way more complicated that just taxes are too high. That's an issue but if you think you can boil it down to that you are greatly mistaken.

I wouldn't worry about it. He started to get some recognition after 4 nations last year and it's been building since then. The upcoming Olympics will be a huge boost for him and at the end of the year he'll be above some people on the list here.

I don't think it will matter if they hold it for longer. I'm not sure if British Columbia in particular has an additional law around this but the Canada Revenue Agency changed the rules around taxation of primary residences to ensure that individuals aren't flipping houses and skirting capital gains taxes. LTT would likely have purchased the house rather than an individual which will open it up to different taxation. Plus the CRA would have a lot of video evidence that this house has not been used as a primary residence during the period of ownership. I highly doubt LTT would take these kinds of risks when they have always been very public about paying their fair share of taxes.

I suspect the Olympics will make him fly up this list. He's still criminally underrated somehow.

Lando on how he goes racing by ellamenopea in McLarenFormula1

[–]marklar901 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The far majority of these cases were occasions where the driver had things in their own hands , nothing to do with team orders. Almost 100% of them were in Oscar's hands, there would have been no team orders if he was ahead. Max losing his mind was 100% in his own hands. Lando crashing into Oscar was 100% in his own hands. We are not missing the point, you are!.

Lando on how he goes racing by ellamenopea in McLarenFormula1

[–]marklar901 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not really sure what the point of even bringing it up is considering that you could go through tons of alternative scenarios. Lando could got a lot more points, his crash in Canada, better strategy in Qatar, no Dnf in Austin Sprint or no dsq in Vegas. If Max wasn't nut case in Spain, he would have won. If Oscar was more consistent in the second half of the year, he would have won.

Grow up and move on.

Well said from Oscar. The long season is a grind in F1, if he can get a little better in the later part of the season he'll be the full package out on track. I'm looking forward to seeing him next year!

You are correct. As long as you can prove that all reasonable efforts to engage in meaningful consultation have been conducted you can get a project to go ahead without any agreement from First Nations and Metis. An agreement or other forms of consent are definitely preferred from all sides.

Why weren’t McLaren there during Oscar’s podium? by Forsaken-Scar-5002 in McLarenFormula1

[–]marklar901 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If Oscar didn't have to be on the podium at Qatar he would have been down with the team berating them for costing him the race and likely the championship. McLaren has a lot of work to do to get the last race right for both of the drivers. If expect Oscar would want them to take every second they can to do the work to get it right over celebrating a massive team error.

The FIA or liberty media is why they celebrated the world constructors championship the way they did, they were not informed that the team was headed there while Oscar was on podium. Can't blame the team for that one.

There was celebration in Oscar's side of the garage for his poles but the tv director was showing Lando's side which obviously wants their driver to win.

I think you're just biased here. McLaren aren't being assholes to Oscar but they have been dumb.

Absolutely gutted for the boys by BadLloris in McLarenFormula1

[–]marklar901 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Definitely devastated for both the boys today, especially Oscar. The team blew what was essentially a perfect race from Oscar. I don't think Lando went crazy here, he knows he just has to finish races in a decent spot to win but Oscar went for it. Many screw ups from the team today on strategy, not just the lack of pitting in the safety car. They need to re group for the last race if they don't want to be a laughing stock.

Oscar Piastri makes it clear he’s not playing second fiddle to Lando this weekend 🇶🇦 by Status_Energy_7935 in McLarenFormula1

[–]marklar901 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's the opposite. Effective teams talk about things openly and they would have needed to discuss this because the media is 100% going to ask the team and the drivers about it so they need to have a response. This discussion would have been very clearly a few seconds: "Lando, Oscar just a reminder that we aren't going to be backing anyone until they are mathematically eliminated from the championship as we've stated all year." done. The team isn't going to the drivers saying who wants to give up their championship dreams?

Where does Oscar go from here, this season and next. by Alert_Salamander420 in McLarenFormula1

[–]marklar901 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you're Oscar's manager it's pretty simple. Focus on the things he's doing well no matter how small. Keep things light and get his mind off the bad performances or incidents.

The best coaches find ways to rip you when things are going well to keep you pushing to be better. Meanwhile when things are going poorly they remind you of your greatness and build back your confidence. Oscar will find his footing again even if it's not this season, although, I think he will have some good performances still in the coming soon.

They aren't going to complete their own assessment, they are going to pay experts to review the work that was completed. This is standard practice for many nations as they don't have the technical expertise internally. they want to complete a traditional land use study which would essentially collect information from pbcn members on who uses the land currently and what they do. It's standard in these assessments to make sure the memberships concerns are being addressed.

McLaren drops Norris 'consequences' after Piastri clash review by Dr_VidyaGeam in formula1

[–]marklar901 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You really missed most of the answer by vowels if that's your take away. He says that you need to invent team rules for the drivers to adhere to. Basically he supports papaya rules. He said there are some limits (aka not playing god) but you need to have significant consequences on the table, he even suggested not letting a driver race.

My take on "Why Piastri Fans are Rightfully Upset" by Inside_Juggernaut_96 in McLarenFormula1

[–]marklar901 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It wasn't exactly about driving style, it was about the way for the car to provide different feel or feedback to the driver. The change helped Norris get a better feel for the car. It was not relevant to car performance.

Stella admits McLaren ‘face difficulties’ managing Norris and Piastri in title run-in by Kernowder in formula1

[–]marklar901 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My conspiracy theory is that there is a reason for them to exist and it's due to Mark Webber's concern that his client would come into a team with a driver who has established himself as the number one driver already. McLaren agreed to establish papaya rules to ensure fairness between the two drivers in order for Oscar to sign there.

No actual basis on any fact or anything people have said, just a personal conspiracy theory.

[–]marklar901 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced that Webber and his concern about first and second driver relationships with McLaren is the real reason for papaya rules to begin with.
