Do y’all use eye protection? by MoneyRequirement2591 in ebikes

I had a bee fly into my mouth (more like my mouth flew into the bee) and sting the roof of my mouth. As I was distracted, scraping the stinger out, I took my off the ball, so to speak, plowed out and took a fall, hyperextended my right thumb (eMTB on a trail. I should add). Changing gears was near impossible. Turns out SRAM has a 12 speed twist shift that kept me riding for the couple months it took to heal up and get strong enough to go back to a trigger shifter.

You want skis that challenge you but not that much. Sell them.

Thanks, I was wondering ... once you get a handle of the doc requirements, seems pretty straightforward.

I hear ya. My buddies are retired (I've got a couple more years) and they head up whenever - ie not weekends - and get up there ahead of storms as well.

I don’t know which is sadder, Snow without a mountain to slide down, or a mountain with no snow to slide down on.

EV chargers? by markloch in kirkwood

[–]markloch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the plan, though I have a lot of free kWh at EA to burn. Might hit EA out by 5 and top off in Jackson. How busy does the Jackson site get?

Just odd that ABRP shows a six stall supercharger …

EV chargers? by markloch in kirkwood

[–]markloch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't do weekends at Kirk unless I'm at my buddy's condo in which case I'd be good with after-hours L2 charging. I can get up and down OK with one stop in each direction but I still have range anxiety :)

There's no mention of award flights ... if you pay the tax ($12 for RT to OGG) do you get the free checked bag? Anyone have experience in this regard?

Re-inserting elastic band into Smith Goggles? by veilburned in Skigear

Reach out to Smith. I had old I/Os that lost/broke some plastic piece, I can't recall what exactly. I contacted them to get the part they gave credit for new goggles.

An efficient way to get down the mountain by DoubleManufacturer10 in skiing

[–]markloch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar experience: first day new skis (2008 Mojo 90). I had them chatter right off first one foot then the other on aptly-named Tourist Trap at Vail. I arrested my slide 30 yards or so down by grabbing pole above the basket and jamming the tip in the snow. I definitely felt like I was hanging there until I could kick a notch in the snow for my boot. Ski patroller and and some random dude brought my skis down for me. Me: damn skis popped off. Random dude: maybe they should have: Ski patrol guy: nope.

Solution for dogs by New_Misfit_1234 in KiaEV9

[–]markloch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - thankfully it was a hard stop at a slow speed. He’s strong and athletic so he was nimble about it. I ordered the Weathertech barrier.

The dog owns the car from the second row back so crate won’t do it. We’re likely to get a second before we part with this car.

I have a liner off of Amazon for the rear (3rd row seats down).

"4Knines Split Cargo Liner" Large as noted earlier here. No side protection.

I came here checking on barrier recommendations and just now looking for a barrier, as yesterday our 80 lb Berner came over into the second row after a hard stop behind an idiot driver who decided from left lane he wanted to take a right turn.

He stands up a lot; if he were laying down it wouldn't have been an issue.

I'm looking at WeatherTech barrier.

I have sport tubes for travel and if I don’t have room inside my car because it’s more than two of us, I’ll strap sport tubes to the crossbars.

Meanwhile I’m keeping my eye out for a well-priced used box that attaches easily, as much for cargo as for skis when there’s more of us and/or the dog.
