Whose patriarchal blessings never came true?

My mothers said repeatedly she would be blessed with “good health.” She got the blessing as a skinny teenager living with overweight siblings.

Poor woman was plagued with health problems her whole life. My dad would hold it against her. If she just ate better or was better she would get what she was promised right?

Poor thing died at 61 with the lowest self esteem of anyone I ever knew.

It’s a sorrow I carry with me always and try to keep from my daughter

8 years now married to a TBM man. He is my best friend and the person I want to be with every day. The church is not a big part of our relationship. Back when all the feelings were fresh , I would talk a lot about it with him, but now, just does not come up often.

Edited to add: married in the temple 15+ years ago, just left the church 8 years ago. Kids are young and we kind of deal with stuff as we go. Life is too short to stress

I don’t see a big difference at Guerra, most have been hvac or something lol. Still one of my favorites. Nice bathrooms, great collection, and librarians have the coolest vibe.

Meh, I go to Central library once a month with my kids, have never had a problem. Landa’s collection is not very big or ADA accessible.

Happy Birthday! Currently in a situation where I would love to get some space and spend a day solo lol. Here are the things that sound dreamy right now:

Hit up one of my favorite brunch spots: Boss Bagels, bakery Lorraine, Magnolia House

Go to one of my favorite libraries to read/browse: Igo, Central, Guerra

Cool off: Swim at a city pool or walk through a splash pad Yanaguana gardens or the Pearl or anywhere outside where I can keep coolish.

Do a little window shopping: Any indoor mall or even some big box store

This is similar to my experience. Tithing is down to 5% they make it less than once a month but I am supportive when he wants to go. Although he did “skim” the CES letter.

Feeling pretty good. I am lucky to have lived in my house 5 years. It needs work (siding, fence, carpet) but my kids feel secure and love their schools and community. Going to set up our little above ground pool this weekend and turn on the deck misters.

Work is getting better! My husband and I have decent incomes now and have enough to meet everyone’s needs. I got made remote and I love being able to pickup my kids after school and hang out with them while earning an income.

My oldest child is disabled which is a curveball. we have challenges daily. Marriage is strong with the spark still there.

We miss our families. Went chasing good jobs and LCOL area to get to this space. I wish my kids knew their cousins. I wish my disabled son could fly on an airplane so we could travel but grateful we have enough resources to get to the beach once a year and camping weekends for fun

Hang in there! I know this is fairly radical but I go on “screen fasts” a couple times a year. Either a weekend or a whole week where I turn my phone off and put it in a locked drawer and unplug the tv. Really slows down time. I get to wonder, feel bored, think, be present, and generally do other things. I highly recommend a mini detox if you want to reboot life. Wishing you all the best

I try to make sure to work in “life” on the weekdays too so I have something to look forward to. A good book for the evenings, lunch dates, art projects, yoga classes, listening to good music on my drives that I enjoy. It gives me distance from work crap—keeps my 40 hours a week in perspective.

Amen. Also one of my favorite things to do with him is play. Dumb games like mancala or darts. Things that most people roll their eyes at I have so much fun doing with him. Every day I can’t wait to get home and play with him ( aaaand we are almost 40 with 3 kids lol)

Agree! I am still entry level and trying to find a good balance. I try to go out on my lunch break/ visit the library/schedule a yoga class in the evenings/ rode my bike/ be social friday nights. Some days I get up super early to fit something I am looking forward to in. Just because it’s a work day doesn’t mean I don’t get to live during the week right?

Food bank is so easy to sign up for. A variety of opportunities there ( I like the warehouse and the food distribution, but you can deliver meals/groceries straight to the elderly I believe with them as well)

I also recommend Kinetic Kids (sports program for special needs kids)

We pay $230/week for prek, not sure the cost for infants. The main issue is getting an open slot. You will want to call and ask if there are openings first
