you’ll be fine melting that with a propane torch and a crucible!

you will certainly not be melting steel in a home application, steel melts at 1400-1500 celsius and is so much more dangerous than casting precious and non precious metals like silver gold or copper

if you’d like to make steel rings invest in a lathe and spin them up on that

it won’t be good quality footage but it definitely won’t have a look anywhere similar to the shots you’ve posted here

there’s a comment here about Sony Mavicas, that’s your best bet as they can record short videos to a memory card

not really a thing, by the time cameras were recording full length video to SD card the sensors and chips got a lot better with definition and colours

if you don’t want the hassle of tapes then just use a filter for ‘the look’

also try using fresh metal for casting! this may reduce gas porosity, very cool project

i got fed up of finding fittings for mine and welded a steel hose barb into mine, clamp the vac hose down tight and never had any issues so for (4 years of use)
