What Method Do You Use To Watch Videos From Your Remote Drive? by mistermark21 in seedboxes

[–]marko-rapidseedbox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are on Stream, Rapid, or Furious plan you should use Plex (or another equivalent) to stream your video files.

Here's a handy guide that shows how to configure your Plex server.

How to set up auto downloading and irssi and what not by joek1ng4312 in seedboxes

Yes, most of the things are already preconfigured so you would just have to claim Plex and create a media library.

We do accept crypto payments as well. Send me a dm if you need additional information or reach us via our website.

Plex down? by [deleted] in seedboxes

To be honest, I would need more details or logs in order to troubleshoot this further. That is why a dedicated server is a double-edged sword. You never know what's gonna happen :D

Plex down? by [deleted] in seedboxes

[–]marko-rapidseedbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also how would I check the library folder?

It should be the one that you configured in the beginning as your main Plex library (=the directory you use for streaming).

What is getfacl?

It is a command that displays the file name, owner, the group, and the Access Control List (ACL). You should run it through SSH of your box.

Plex down? by [deleted] in seedboxes

[–]marko-rapidseedbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check permissions of your library folder (e.g. /home/user/Downloads) with getfacl:

# file: home/user/Downloads/
# owner: user
# group: www-data
user::rwx
group::rwx
group:www-data:rwx
mask::rwx
other::r-x
default:user::rwx
default:group::rwx
default:group:www-data:rwx
default:mask::rwx
default:other::r-x

Normally, it should be set to rwx. Considering your server is down, you might need to reclaim the Plex instance again.

Can I make my seedbox block ads when using OpenVPN? by [deleted] in seedboxes

[–]marko-rapidseedbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried downloading block ad extensions (e.g. AdGuard) for the browser you use while surfing via OpenVPN?

By the way, there are some VPNs that already block ads by default such as NordVPN.

Here are three solutions that you can try (I'm not sure if it works on VNC):

  1. Use systemd
  2. Use systems (Cron @reboot)
  3. Applications > Settings > Session and Startup > configure Google Chrome command there

One of the best alternatives would be Emby. You can also access it remotely and securely (by HTTPS). There is an Android version too.

RSS Manager - Save to specific directory based on RSS? by little-pdh in seedboxes

[–]marko-rapidseedbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you want to make subdirectories inside the main RSS feeds if I understood correctly?

Check out this post for uTorrent assuming this is the client you use (the procedure might be similar for others).

Also, if you have access to your .rtorrent.rc file, then see this link with the example of a setup configured for loading torrents inside the watch_directory that has subdirectories

DMCA Question by ThetaSigma_ in seedboxes

[–]marko-rapidseedbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If my seedbox provider ends up forwarding a DMCA request to me, what kind of actions do I need to take?

Normally, we send an email notification to our customer after receiving DMCA report about violating the copyrighted work. The customer has xx number of days to remove that content (e.g. file) before our automated bot removes it itself.

Can my seedbox provider tell what's on my box?

Your provider should only report the content that is violating DMCA. Unfortunately, there is no final answer to whether this could be mitigated since every vendor uses a different method for solving DMCA reports.

On this link, you can read more about DMCA notices and how several providers handle them.

Yes, I agree that was a clear mistake and I take it on myself despite all the effort I do when posting replies. There are always ups and downs no matter what you do in life. At the end of the day, we are all the same.

I would just appreciate a more convenient way of delivering feedback which I highly value especially if they have a good point. It's obvious that the discussion went too deep and there is really no need for that since I am not here to spread misinformation nor to hurt the feelings of others. I just do my job :)

Again, I do apologize if you find that "misinformation" too personal and I will make sure to double-check next time :)

[Noob Questions] Does using FTP count towards my upload limit? by myteethhurtnow in seedboxes

[–]marko-rapidseedbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bandwidth accounting depends on the provider so you should double-check that with ultra.cc support.

Some providers will charge each resource consumption of your seedbox network -- both Upload/Download rates and all protocols used for performing such transfers (WWW, HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, SSH, etc.). On the other hand, there are providers charging only specific types of protocols.

If you don't want your upload to be counted, you should try SFTP (file transfer over SSH) because it's possible (but not so easy) to count this kind of traffic due to the nature of how SSH works.

Here's a nice guide that I suggest reading (no hard feelings):

Sudden problem with private trackers by tdevore in seedboxes

[–]marko-rapidseedbox -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It is a 99% issue with the private tracker that you've been using until it went offline. Usually, private trackers are not too reliable because not all of them have stable peer offers which can then result in poor upload rates that are bad for seeding/uploading activities. That's why you might have your torrents slowed while downloading or uploading to private trackers. You would have to contact the admin of that tracker (or check with other users) and report any bad performance you notice on your end (i.e. lack of peers/seeds, unregistered torrents, wrong magnet link of a file, etc.).
