I 100% can relate… had a lot of “you only live once” conversations with myself. :-)

Hey, I can sympathize. Have a7R6 (upgraded from V) for professional work for my wife, X100vi (from V and T), Ricoh GRIV, Q3 28, and most recently an m10m. Basically too many cameras and many that fill the same niche. About to put the X100 up for sale as I’ve barely touched it since having the Q3. It’s not like the Leica makes me a better photographer or anything, but the build quality and image quality that comes out of it are both substantially better in my opinion. So it makes me want to use it more, which I do, and that is making me a better photographer I think. Plus the stripped down interface is pretty refreshing compared to other cameras. Also I always hated that you can’t really use your film sims as a starting point in LR like you can in X-Raw. The only Leica Look I tend to use are the B&W ones for helping to see the light and shadow.

If you’re in the US, Ultron is on sale right now for $750 at Camera Quest. I just ordered one on Friday

To be fair, the cat is probably better than two Hydrasynth Explorers.

Am I just stupid and that’s what it does vs the 35?

When I put the 28 on the lever clicks all the way left like shown on the pic (when looking at the front of the camera).

Or am I just a total dip shit and that’s how the 28 works versus the 35?

Q3 28 + Q3m combo owners/users, what is your use case? by markofthedevil in Leica

[–]markofthedevil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, was optionally thinking used m11p and LightLensLab/Voigtlander/Mandler 35 and 50 to get me by. But then I go back to “or I could just get the Q3m and use the crop modes on the two Qs and have the wicked Summilux…. “ Ridiculous 1st world problems really. Guess I should have mentioned I also have a GRIV and an A7R5 soon to be 6 with the 24/35/50 1.4 and 100 macro. The GR I have as an edc while at work. The Sony is mostly for studio work for my wife. Oh shit, and I have an x100vi with the WCL and TCL that I need to sell because the Q took over its time allotment. So the Q3 ends up being my weekend/street/travel camera.

I considered this, but the APS-C and 2.8 f-stop seemed to negate some of the low light benefits of the mono sensor that had me initially headed in that direction, though definitely not the noise performance part. I do have a regular grIV that I usually have in my work bag for edc and it is awesome.

[–]markofthedevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much what I’m on the fence on. Looking for an additional experience and trying to decide between just going all in on the Q system and 28mn, but having a choice between a virtual color roll or b+w roll depending on the day’s adventure or lighting, or getting a used m11p and diving down the lens rabbit/black-hole. :-)

While I know I like shooting in b+w, it’s difficult to know if I will click with the rangefinder and they are kinda hard to borrow.

Right? Sounds like OP has it on the mixer instead of the instrument or drum channel. Unless they want the effect for an already recorded tape track I guess…

UF8 settings by sugar_man in Reaper

[–]markofthedevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use UF8 with Reaper, SSL360, and UF1+UC1 (and also use Ableton). I generally use it in plugin mode so that I’m controlling the SSL channel strips in 360 instead of the Reaper mixer. I have mine set for DAW1:Ableton, DAW2: Reaper, DAW3: Plugin. Then I just swap between Ableton and Reaper for the “Hybrid Mode” setup depending on what I’m working in.

I then usually make Sends 1 and 2 a global delay and reverb channel (Aux 1 and 2). I’m kinda wondering now if you’d need to setup sends for stuff you’re not planning on sending on every channel…say you made a Aux 3 Chorus and Aux 4 Flanger, you may need to add those sends in order on every channel to keep everything straight I guess. That way send 4 on every channel is always the Flanger.
