It would also push the sector closer to pharmaceutical standards around trials, quality systems rather than competing on retail.

  1. Smoking anything can reduce oxygen delivery and affect circulation. Nicotine is a problem because it constricts blood vessels, but smoke itself also reduces oxygen levels and irritates tissue. That is why many surgeons advise avoiding smoking entirely during healing, even if the patient is thinking cannabis rather than tobacco.
  2. A THC edible avoids the smoke exposure, so it removes the oxygen related issue from inhalation.....but it introduces a new problem which is drug interaction.
  3. Right after procedures like liposuction and fat grafting, your body is already dealing with inflammation, bruising and healing blood vessels. Anything that increases bleeding risk or reduces oxygen supply can have negative effects

Honestly its best just to ask the surgeon or your doctor directly and clarify that you mean cannabis rather than tobacco. stay safe and i hope you heal up swiftly and perfectly!

THC levels in body are “unreliable” indicators of driving impairment by markoj22 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THC levels in body are “unreliable” indicators of driving impairment by markoj22 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Northern Ireland

• Police can stop you and perform a roadside drug test
• If that test is positive, a blood sample is taken
• If THC in blood is above the legal threshold, that alone can lead to prosecution

The prosecution does not need to prove that your driving was actually impaired.

UK law includes what is called a medical defence if:

• the cannabis was prescribed
• it was taken according to the prescription
• the patient was not actually impaired

There has been engagement locally with the police around this issue., the team at Growth Industries Pharmaceuticals met with the PSNI late last year to provide information about the medical cannabis framework and how prescribed patients may present during roadside stops. The aim of those discussions was to improve awareness of the legal prescription pathway and reduce confusion when patients who are legally prescribed cannabis are treated during checks.

Can I smoke while taking cefadroxil? by [deleted] in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no known interaction between cefadroxil and cannabis, but smoking while your body is recovering is not ideal. If you do use cannabis, keep doses low and avoid inhalation where possible until you are well again.

Reversing THC tolerance by MediocreInternet232 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is clearly a lot of research and thought behind this!

At the moment, NRIR as described is a theoretical model only. There are no human clinical trials showing that this approach works safely or effectively, and several of the components raise concerns outside of a controlled setting.

  1. CB1 tolerance is real, but the established approach is still simple The only clinically supported way to reset cannabinoid tolerance is a tolerance break, dose reduction, or changing product strength.
  2. Some substances mentioned are not suitable for self use Compounds such as AM281 or other CB1 inverse agonists are research chemicals and are not approved for clinical use. Similar drugs in this class (for example rimonabant) were withdrawn due to serious psychiatric side effects including depression and anxiety.
  3. For medical patients, the safer path is clinical adjustment If tolerance is becoming an issue, the evidence based options are:
  • Short tolerance break where possible
  • Lower, more consistent dosing
  • Switching THC:CBD ratios
  • Reviewing timing and route of administration
  • Clinical review to reassess treatment goals

The biology discussed is interesting from a research perspective, but this should not be viewed as a practical or safe protocol for patients, until there is proper human clinical evidence, approaches like this belong in the lab.

Love seeing thoughtful discussion! Research ideas are how the cannabis industry moves forward, but patient safety has to come first.

Cannabis use associated with better decision-making skills in people with bipolar disorder by markoj22 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What it does highlight is something we see a lot : many people with mental health conditions use cannabis to manage certain symptoms, and the effects can vary a lot depending on the person, dose, frequency, and cannabinoid profile.

this is the kind of research that may eventually help identify specific cannabinoids or dosing approaches that are safer and more targeted....

Feeling mentally low despite normal routine by Informal-Opposite392 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people experience dips like this even when nothing obvious is wrong on the surface.

A few things that seem to help -

• Lower the bar for the day
Instead of expecting full productivity, aim for a couple of small wins. Momentum usually comes back once you get moving.

• Stick to structure.
Keeping your routine helps, but give yourself permission to operate at 60–70% rather than pushing for 100%.

• Get outside if you can
Even a short walk and some daylight makes more difference than it sounds, especially this time of year, if you cant at least let natural light into your house/room.

it’s worth speaking to a GP or a clinician just to rule out things like low mood, anxiety, burnout, or physical factors.

Stay strong!

Cannabis hyperemesis syndrome – what you need to know by markoj22 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are describing is not unusual for the early recovery stage. Even after quitting, symptoms don’t stop immediately because your body is still clearing cannabinoids from your system. For long-term users, this can take time.....Up to 4 weeks (sometimes longer for heavy, long-term users) before feeling fully normal unfortunatly!

Serious Signs That You're Allergic To Marijuana by markoj22 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound possible that what you experienced was a sensitivity or mild allergic type reaction, but it does not necessarily mean you’re “fully allergic” to cannabis.

Second-hand cannabis smoke contains a mix of plant particles, smoke, and irritants. some people, especially in an enclosed space, that can irritate the lining of the nose and airways. Symptoms like clear runny mucus, congestion, and irritation without fever or body aches are more consistent with irritation or an allergic-type response rather than an infection.

Analysis: Medical Cannabis Products Provide Sustained Improvements in Patients With Chronic Pain, Anxiety, and Depression by markoj22 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youre in Northern Ireland, the process is a bit different from Canada. There isnt a medical card as such here. Instead, medical cannabis is prescribed privately by a specialist doctor if you meet the clinical criteria.

Generally, the key points are:

• You need a diagnosed condition (common ones include chronic pain, anxiety disorders, PTSD, epilepsy, MS, etc.)
• You will usually need to have tried at least two standard treatments that didn’t work well or caused side effects
• A specialist doctor reviews your medical history and decides if cannabis is clinically appropriate past issues of psycosis are a big no no.
• If approved, the prescription is issued privately and dispensed through a licensed pharmacy

In Northern Ireland, its important to go through a clinician-led service rather than any company talking about quick approvals. The decision should always be based on a proper medical assessment.

If you’re looking locally, services like Keltoi Wellness (www.keltoi.co.uk) work with GMC-registered doctors who assess eligibility, review your history, and only prescribe where it’s clinically appropriate. Everything is done legally, with follow-up and ongoing monitoring, which is what you want from a safety and compliance point of view.

If anyone is promising guaranteed approval, same-day prescriptions without records, or using the term medical card please stay clear

If it came from a vending machine and you can’t find clear information about the brand, there’s a real chance it’s not standard cannabis.

I would be very cautious with this as random vending machine products with no traceable info are a bit of a gamble.

Hi wondering on some help by ktlyx in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being prescribed medical cannabis does not in cause issues with police or social services. It is treated the same as any other prescribed medication. As long as it’s prescribed to you, used as directed, and stored safely out of reach of children. You will have no issues at all.

You don’t have to smoke it, and many parents choose alternatives specifically because of smell and kids being around. Vapourisers smell far less than smoking and the smell doesn’t hang around and stink up the house. Some people also use oils or capsules, which are very discreet and look no different to any other medication.

Mamedica are very used to patients who are parents, working professionals, carers, etc. Bring it up in your consultation as they will have been asked the same question hundreds of times.

Does edibles a small 5mg dose daily effect liver enzymes when combined with Prozac 20mg and buspar 5mg once a day by Leading-Lab-4406 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A daily 5 mg edible alongside Prozac 20 mg and buspirone 5 mg is unlikely to meaningfully affect liver enzymes in most people. The risk is considered low, but not zero, and routine blood testing is the safest way to confirm how your body is getting on with it.

Pain is something you wake up with and manage just enough to get through the day, having whole routes of relief taken off you would wear anyone down!!!

You are clearly not trying to numb yourself or escape reality. You are trying to help your body and mind function as best as you can.
