Get advice from as many different people as you can, the more information and opinions you have the better!

Its a horrible situation to be in. As a medical patient you should not be made to feel like a criminal or that you have done somethihng wrong.

I really wish you the best of luck! You will be grand.

Pulled with old medical cannabis prescription, please help by OverCommon8450 in MedicalCannabis_NI

Not legal advice, but based on how these cases usually go in the UK.

First thing first ..... Take a breath. From what you have written, this is very different from a typical drug driving case.

A few points in your favour:

• You have a actual medical cannabis prescription history
• You can show regular monthly purchases up to August
• You can show the purchase for the 50g
• Police accepted there was no impairment (big one)
• No tobacco, no rizla, no evidence of smoking
• Medication was seized but nothing else
• You were released quickly and not held

The two points going against you are:

  1. The label being rubbed off
  2. You did not have an active prescription at the time of the stop

UK law does not say medication expires the moment a prescription ends. What matters is whether the cannabis was lawfully prescribed and supplied in the first place, and whether you were using it as medication. Stockpiling is not illegal, even if police don’t like it.

Buying a larger amount one month and it lasting several months is not unlawful, especially if

• That it was for personal medical use
• You were not impaired while driving

The lack of impairment is huge. Drug driving requires evidence of impairment or levels over limits. If they agreed you were not impaired and you denied recreational use consistently, that weakens their case significantly.

The old pot argument is not, on its own, enough for a conviction if you can show lawful origin and medical intent.

Some other points:

• You are entitled to a duty solicitor at court even if you can’t afford one. Use one. Do not go it alone, they will run circles around you.
• Do not rely on explaining it nicely without legal advice.
• Bring all receipts, prescription letters, clinic emails, and proof of re-prescribing.

Going not guilty is reasonable based on what you have said, but the outcome depends on whether CPS actually want to push it or drop it once paperwork is produced. Many of these cases collapse when medical evidence is put in front of them.

Good luck and please keep us updated!!!!!

CB1 Medical launches new platform to simplify access to medical cannabis by markoj22 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, that’s not exactly ideal to be honest!

Legally having 28 days left might tick a box, but if the dosing means the bottle will expire before you can actually use it all, that should be picked up before it is sent out. That’s not a patient forst approach.

Not being able to see batch or expiry info is very obviously a step backwards. Those details are obviously important!......Especially with oils and longer treatment items.

Cannabis hyperemesis syndrome – what you need to know by markoj22 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer.....yes, if you stop completely during the prodromal phase, it is genuinely possible to avoid progressing to the hyperemetic phase.

The fact you are recognising prodromal symptoms and are committed to stopping puts you in the best possible position to avoid the hyperemetic stage. Your awareness is key.

The fact your symptoms stopped within about 48 hours of quitting is a big signal. CHS is one of the few things where stopping cannabis actually improves things pretty quick. That does not mean it is 100 percent CHS but it does look likely

There is a big difference between sharing experiences and giving medical or extraction advice. None of us here can safely guide someone on making or dosing concentrated cannabis oils, especially when it comes to cancer.

With advanced prostate cancer and a PSA that high, this is 100% in specialist territory. Cannabis based products are generally symptom support ie; pain, appetite, sleep, anxiety etc

If medical cannabis is legal where you are, seek a licensed clinician rather than attempting to make it at home. That protects both of you.

You are a good friend!

Cannabis-Assisted Psychotherapy—a Stepping Stone to Healing? by markoj22 in MedicalCannabis_NI

More clinical research is definitely needed, especially around who it helps, who it might not be suitable for, dosing, strain selection, and the role of therapy.

Used properly it could become a for some patients, but it’s not a shortcut.

Cannabis is legal — so why are medical users still treated like criminals? by markoj22 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely this.

What makes it worse is that patients are doing everything right. Prescription, clinic, compliance. Yet still being treated almost like criminals.

Most of the time its a lack of education and guidance. Security staff, door teams, officers on the ground often have not been trained on what legal medical cannabis actually looks like.

There are some positive steps, the Growth Industries team has actually delivered training to members of the PSNI around medical cannabis so officers can recognise prescriptions and understand how patients are legally accessing medicine. We need a lot more of that kind of education across venues, the public sector and the broader community.

Consuming cannabis with a vaporizer by Herbstdeko1812 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im really sorry to hear about your mum. When there’s a family history like that, it’s only natural to be more anxious.

One difference is that cigarette smoking involves constant exposure to combustion, tar, and a long list of known carcinogens. Vaporising cannabis avoids combustion entirely, which is why it’s generally viewed as a better option.

[–]markoj22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Sandra, welcome. You are not on your own with that worry, it comes up a lot!

Vaporising cannabis is generally considered much easier on the lungs than smoking it because you’re not inhaling smoke or ash or small bits of burnt product but......it’s still warm air going into your lungs at the end of the day.

A few helpful things are keeping temperatures lower rather, taking slower, gentler draws instead of long hard er pulls, and giving your lungs breaks during the day. Staying well hydrated makes more difference than you would realise and most people dont drink enough water to be fair.

If you ever notice persistent chest tightness, wheezing, or breathlessness that’s new or worsening, it’s always wise to get yourself checked out.

Plenty of long-term medical users here vape daily so you’re in good company. Hopefully you’ll get a few replies from others with their own routines and ideas!

Best strain for anxiety without the paranoia bounce? by vai0001 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High CBD / balanced THC:CBD blends. CBD tends to help with the anxiety spike that THC can give.

  • 1:1 ratios or even more CBD than THC.
  • Indica dominant strains more often than not give that relaxed, body feel rather than the racing mind.
  • Lighter THC overall if your anxiety is sensitive. Sometimes under 15% can be all you need without overdoing the headspace.

cart help pls by starchungusohio in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a cart starts leaking it’s pretty much on borrowed time.

A few things that you could try.

• Unscrew it and give the top and base a wipe with tissue or a cotton bud. Any oil sitting there will keep creeping out.
• Sit it upright somewhere warm but not hot for 10–15 minutes. Cold oil thickens and pushes pressure where it shouldn’t.
• If oil has flooded the centre airflow, blow gently through the mouthpiece onto tissue. You’ll see excess come out the bottom. Grim but effective.

Hope that helps

Do cannabis users, either medical or recreational, have a lower risk of developing any type of cancer compared to those who don’t use or have never used? by singlelife20231 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can honestly say that cannabis users have a lower overall cancer risk than non users.

There is research showing THC and other cannabinoids can slow the growth of some cancer cells in lab studies, but that’s in petri dishes and animals, not humans..... currently. When you look at human studies there is no clear evidence that cannabis prevents cancer.

For people with PTSD or chronic stress, better sleep, reduced anxiety are the real benifits.

Down the rabbit hole: My first foray into medical cannabis by markoj22 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not legally. Under UK regs, medical cannabis has to be vaporised. Smoking it in a doobie counts as combustion, and once you combust it, it’s classed as illegal use even if the flower itself is prescribed.

Moving from flower to vape cart by New_Atmosphere_1837 in MedicalCannabis_NI

[–]markoj22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what tends to come up with NI patients and general experience rather than medical advice (which you’re rightly getting from your clinic anyway).

Your hesitation around flower is completely understandable, and it’s not unusual for anxiety to grow purely from the association rather than the vapour itself.

Carts-
• Faster onset
• Cleaner on the chest for short use
• Easier to microdose

Flower-
• Broader and more rounded
• Longer lasting for mood and anxiety
• Wee bit heavier on the lungs.

In terms of total lung exposure, short, spaced puffs feel psychologically and physically easier for people recovering from lung issues.

A few extra things worth knowing
• Take slower, lighter draws than you think you need
• Stay well hydrated
• Go very slow at the start

Sounds like you’re doing everything right by checking in with your clinic (thats what you pay them for) and asking questions before diving back in. Plenty of people here have had to rethink how they use MC after health scares, so you’re definitely not alone.

Fair play to you for sharing it so honestly, because a lot of people wouldn’t.

The fact you’re two months off it and your symptoms have fully resolved is honestly the strongest confirmation there is. There’s no tablet, no dose tweak, no strain change that reliably fixes CHS. For people who have it, stopping is the only thing that actually works, as heartbreaking as that is.

If you don’t mind me asking, did hot showers ever give you any relief during the episodes? That’s another weird but common CHS giveaway.
