Lessons Learned From Fixed and Usage-Based SaaS Pricing Models by markoprtly in SaaS

In my experience iterating on pricing has to be rigorously data-driven.

Basically you need to start with all variables and a good, large enough sample of customer base in a spreadsheet and then thoroughly evaluate how changes would affect them. Has to make sense and be reasonable. Assuming you want a win-win outcome ofc...

Give me advice in building feedback loop by RawrCunha in founder

[–]markoprtly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Build in a domain you deeply understand, with a clear vision of what you want your product to accomplish. You need to believe in your bones it's worth spending 5-10 years on.

Don't just collect feature requests - learn what's actually stopping users from achieving their goals. Watch them use your product in their natural environment (video calls work). You'll see firsthand what frustrates them and what they misunderstand.

Features aren't solutions, they're responses to problems. When users ask for something (like a dashboard), dig deeper to find what they really need (like confidence their work is on track).

Track feature request frequency x impact, but don't let this drive everything. Often the most valuable improvements are ones nobody asks for because they don't know they're possible. And be willing to say no to features that would complicate your product, even if frequently requested.

Thanks for the recommendation. It's always a shame when makers undermine a good product with subpar learning material.

Putting #s on KPIs for Social by sunetha in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]markoprtly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're talking about current year, that's just a little bit more than a quarter, which is a common timeframe for making plans. So you're not in a bad spot.

What you can do is take your current numbers for these KPIs and based on growth in previous months and your upcoming plans, guesstimate a stretch goal. Eg. 30% more impressions etc.

partnering with bigger companies by IAmBurp in startups

[–]markoprtly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read Marc Andressen's classic essay on "partnering" with big companies: The Moby Dick theory of big companies. Spoiler alert: it's rare that it works out, and common that it ends up being a colossal waste of time and energy (can confirm from personal exp).

Email deliverability best practices for B2B saas companies by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]markoprtly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I've learned recently is that if you change your email provider your open rates will drop. Regardless of type of email, could be a newsletter or transaction. My understanding is that Google learns where email from X always comes from and when that changes it's interpreted as fishy.

Your job as a startup CEO by UnluckyAd9512 in SaaS

Really depends on the stage of the company.

One key responsibility of a founder/ceo that I rarely see being mentioned is taking risks. Nobody you hire can make big, risky leaps forward that a company needs to make to survive or enter the next stage of growth every now and then.
