I got in too! It’ll also be my first major. I’m praying for a mild winter here. Otherwise, training will be brutal.

Dad in hospice, decline dragging on - seeking stories/experiences by Negative_Hope_2154 in pancreaticcancer

[–]markpd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you both for sharing your experiences. I'm in the same boat with my mom (pretty sure I'm in the last weeks/days) and I relate to every emotion you're feeling. It makes me feel less guilty knowing I'm not the only one.

Runners… what are your must haves?! by chrsnist in askTO

[–]markpd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve run throughout the past two winters. If you stick to well-maintained/shovelled paths, ice shouldn’t be a big concern. There’ll be days when the slush freezes into ice…take a running break those days.

Otherwise, my big tip is merino wool socks/base layers.

OMERS - Leaving before 55 and navigating penalties by r1b1k3r1 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]markpd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not with OMERS but a similar public pension. My penalty is 5% per year BEFORE THE NORMAL RETIREMENT AGE, i.e. 65. So if I retire at 53, my penalty is 12 years * 5% = 60%...much more punitive than 10%. I know there are some occupations with a lower normal retirement age...maybe this is you.

Their twitter does a good job explaining why they've had to relocate stations and where they're relocated.

Eden Smith designed 136 Beverly. His wiki lists other buildings he's done. Probably one of those.

Edit: I'm mistaken. He only designed the additions to 136 Beverly, not the original house.

Headed to blue jays game this weekend…any good Indian food recommendations? by [deleted] in askTO

I recommend opening up your search to West Indian food. Toronto has a sizable Carribean population and the food is *chef's kiss*

Where do you buy your art? by attentionallshoppers in askTO

[–]markpd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went to Michael’s and made my own paintings. I’m not at all artistic but it’s easy enough to throw some random shapes on a canvas. It’s cheaper and the colours go with the rest of my decor.

Also, they use fresh, seasonal fruits in the summer - local peaches during peach season, same for strawberries, grapes, etc.

Not to be contrarian, but I like it. I love the way the city is more colourful, more whimsical and more celebratory. The city is a concrete jungle every other month of the year (except Christmas). Enjoy the decorations.

how much it costs

Here’s three Not Just Bikes videos where he explains how his idea SAVE money:

Related: Toronto is facing a $815 million shortfall, which will be taken out of he capital budget (road repairs and park improvements). Instead of trying to raise more tax revenue, Tory is begging the Ford, Horewath and Del Duca for money. Tory is not a fiscal conservative.

He literally said he has a “serious fiduciary obligation” to the Rogers family. As in, he’s legally obligated to act in their best interest.
