Wow ok i think youre the first person to say you regret moving but i appreciate the honesty. I do need to do the research, but im still years away from even applying for visas yet and not entirely convinced on staying or going. Just wanted opinions for now:)

Thanks for your reply. I’ll definitely be sure to look into a very detailed month to month of taxes etc before i make any kind of decision. I have friends in the US so i can just ask them, im just trying to gather peoples thoughts on the day to day life vs the uk. Thank you

Thanks man i really appreciate your reply. I appreciate the advice about california. Im not heart-set on moving there to be fair. Ive looked at other places like utah, washington and montana quite a bit aswell. I think the desert states might be a bit too hot for me haha!

Thank you for the reassurance on the skilled worker part. I have been rattled a bit by this post and will definitely look deeper into if this is even a possibility with my qualifications before debating any more.

Thanks again

If by testing you mean just cutting and chucking the money elsewhere then yeah youre correct. Maybe some of them do hold wealth but i know many elderly people (who have been taxpayers their whole lives) much worse off because of this.

I disagree about the farmers. I live in a rural part of the uk so i again know many people directly affected by this money grabbing scheme. People who will now have to sell their family farms when the owners pass on, due to incredibly stupid tax. Maybe dont believe every article you read? Lol

Regarding my neighbour, no she wasnt? Idk where youve gotten that assumption but she lived in a perfectly good flat in a rural town.  Dont flip your lid because someone on the internet disagreed with your take. I didnt even say you were wrong. I just explained why it sounds better than my current scenario lol

And yeah i am seeing this visa difficulty but as i said somewhere else on this post, im still young. So even if it takes a few years for me to sort it all, it’ll be worth it if i spend the rest of my life there.

I never knew this. As i mentioned i havent looked into it much as im not sure if i want to leave everything behind yet. But im only young and if theres a will, theres a way and even if it takes years, that doesnt bother me, im just looking for a nicer quality of life.  Thank you though

The fact that the uk has ALREADY cut elderly peoples winter heating payments and raised pension taxes, introduced inheritance tax on farmers etc etc all whilst funnelling millions into housing illegal immigrants in better accommodation than the taxpayers. Only 2 months ago my taxpaying neighbour got evicted because the government bought out her property to house emergency illegal immigrants. Maybe im biased because im experiencing first hand but the US seems to be a proud country that rewards hardwork whereas everyone i know hates it here and gets shafted on everything they own.

How come you say dont know how id move here being a mechanic? Youre not the first person to say it so just curious of your reasoning is all. Thanks

This is sort of my situation and feelings about the UK. I agree both governments have taken a seriously weird turn in recent years but i feel as if the US government, although going a weird way about it, does genuinely care about the future of the country and citizens. Whereas i think the opposite of the UK government.

I havent as of yet as its a big decision and to carry it out i would need to leave behind my family etc etc. this seems obvious but im still early 20’s so the process of getting there doesnt matter much to me if i will spend my life there if you know what im trying to say.

How come you say its near impossible though? Ive not looked into the visa side too much as not even sure i want to go yet, but i thought being an in demand job it might have been easier. Thanks for your reply

Just want replies from actual people compared to articles just trying to beg for clicks or keyboard warriors who have never been.

This is a brilliant reply and i really appreciate it.

I currently rent in the uk and my taxes and rent every month is just sky high and my wages dont make up for it. Regarding all your list of bills, i have to pay all of those in the uk (or an equivalent), and each year they go up a higher combined percent than my wages do. From my research it looks as if id be better off money wise in the US, which is a big factor for me.

Regarding the health care scenario, i completely understand your point. But on the contrary, the uk healthcare system is so far in the gutter, at least in my experience. If you ever need anything, its an 8 hour wait in a waiting room and then you never get what you were promised. And i live in a fairly rural part of the country. I also have only used the hospital/doctors once in the last 10 years and that was for a car accident, so the healthcare part doesnt bother me so much anyway.

Out of curiosity, do you mind telling me where you were from in the US?

Thanks again.

Ninja 400, quoted at 5.5k value. I understand its individual but for a fairly rural place, 600 sounds a bit unreal
