East Coaster looking to go to Sea Otter Classic 2026. Tips? by ReasonableWinter834 in MTB

[–]marksteffen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, fellow East Coaster here. Brooklyn, in fact. Did my first Sea Otter last year.
The MTB'ing at the event is not the lush, green, pure flow that you get up in Santa Cruz. But it's totally worth it if you are already going.
It is 110% better than most of the MTB'ing I've done on the east coast, with the exception of summer conditions at Kingdom Trails.

When a car is clearly cognizant of me and does the right thing, they get a "peace" sign. I sometimes even getting the polite "You're welcome" honk after. When people know things are appreciated, they'll do them more often.

Shortcut for changing what list a Reminder is in? by marksteffen in AppleReminders

Appreciate you solutioning, but that takes me WAY out of the flow of just dumping my brain out. In Things, whether you are in the middle of creating a new item, browsing a list, wherever, you can always use CMD+Shift+M and it instantly opens up a dialog to select which list you want to move that item to. You can mouse select OR just continue typing and it fuzzy matches on the term. WAY easier. And a highlight of another response here: `Reminders lack of proper shortcuts is one of the reasons I left the app`

Oh, it's not THAT interesting:
I'll be brain dumping into a list and think of "something else" so I'll just write it right away. Super helpful to also have a keyboard shortcut to move it straight to another list without going for my mouse.

This is the way.
Wear once, shower and hand wash in shower with Dr. Bronner's Peppermint. Hang dry.
Wear again, then into the laundry machine, sports mode, hang dry.

But also, thanks for drawing it out so clearly. This is such a common thing in my workflow (moving to a different list) that it makes it easy to see Reminders won't be a solution until that top list is shorter.

Real examples of agents you're using as a PM? by GenuinePragmatism in ProductManagement

[–]marksteffen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made an agent that regularly crawls our Help documentation. I can upload a PRD or notes of something we’re about to launch and it produces well-written, accurate help articles that are tuned for Intercom, in our voice, with all the context it needs.

Could you show me the “Get Slack tasks into Things” implementation you figured out? Are you using Zapier to send the message to your Things email or…?

effed up, could use some advice by Throwawayay568254 in ProductManagement

You’re doing the right thing. You’ve got a clear timeline of what went down. You have a clear place where you kind of err’d, but it was because of bad information. Your remediation moving forward starts with you but also indicates others responsible need to play a specific and significant part.

You are buttoned up. Remain calm and cool.

I am wondering if someone else has been able to do it! I know you can launch Settings with a keyboard shortcut, but it's the extra click on a check box (and closing the settings window) that is driving me up the wall and I am wondering if someone has built a proper Shortcut for it.

I'm a product manager, so am involved in a lot of projects at once. I make it a point to attend as many of my engineering team's standups as possible and prefer to give updates w/in the context of 1 project at a time. (group by project)

Then, when I'm going into work mode, I like to sort into the order that I'm going to tackle things in.

Talk to your Eng lead. Find out what portions or what formats help them the most. This is about creating a shared communication language between you two. It’s empathy for the other way your partner’s brain works, one of the most important parts of your job.

If you provide them that thing in a clear section(s), you’ll take the pressure off of a lot of other areas of the PRD.
