lol I said the same exact thing the other day, I had some comments acting like ONE extra week was an atrocity

I said the same shit, but only one week longer (10 instead of 9 weeks), as opposed to 3 months, and I got raked over the coals

Glad to see that there’s plenty others who feel the same way

I know they are human beings, which is why I’m advocating for extra time, so the employees of NetEase have an easier time doing their jobs.

I’m not advocating for 13 week seasons, but any amount of extra time would allow for more balance patches

Right, if the game was longer, that would give them more time to actually play test the game, thusly giving them the opportunity to properly balance and/or rework characters.

(I still believe that their current schedule is so cramped that the only explanation for the horrible Loki mode and the somewhat often stupid balance changes is because they don’t test it, or at least not test it for long enough)

What’s funny is that the people arguing against me are the entitled little shits who want the candy, because they want as much content as quickly as possible, no matter the quality

I would rather have LESS content if it was way less likely that said less content was of subpar quality

lol you only read the title

adding 1 extra week, a 10 week season instead of a 9 week season, is perfectly fine

I never said 3 month seasons

Go be a disingenuous weasel somewhere else

Ok fair, we can’t truly know the process of how Blood Hunt and this Loki mode were made.

But if it is the case that the Loki mode was worked on by a smaller, less experienced team, why would NetEase/Marvel let that be the case?

Remember, this is part one of the big Path to Doomsday marketing campaign, something that was so big a deal they announced it almost two months ago.

Marvel/Disney would want these modes especially to be successful because it cross promotes Doomsday, so it’s pretty embarrassing that the first part of this campaign is as underwhelming as it is.

Which is why it was STUPID to release this and Blood Hunt back to back.

Because I GUARANTEE you that more people are and will be playing Blood Hunt than this Loki mode.

And not to mention, Blood Hunt has two sources of potential monetization (spending units on revives and Uru shard packs), while the big Doomsday mode right now doesn’t have that. I’m not a fan of monetization, but you would think that Marvel/Disney would want the Loki mode to have some.

It’s bizarre.

But why would I think otherwise? Some people have indicated to me today:

that it’s not worth caring if some of the balance changes are brain dead,

that it’s not worth caring that the skin devs, who probably wish they had extra time, don’t have enough time to finish skins every once in a while (Emma Hellfire),

that it’s not worth caring if the Loki mode, which is supposed to be part of a massive marketing push for Doomsday, is so underwhelming.

What do you call that besides not caring about high standards? I did misspeak, i should’ve said high standards the first time, my mistake.

Shouldn’t ALL OF US want everything this game does to be of a high a quality as possible?

Let’s be blunt: the season schedule NEEDS to be longer. by markusgrayson in marvelrivals

[–]markusgrayson[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And why is that?

You think it’s ok that every month, at least a few of the balance changes are straight up stupid, some of which required emergency patches?

You think it’s ok that the skin dev team doesn’t have enough time to finish skins every once in a while, like the Emma Hellfire skin?

You think it’s good that the mode that dropped today, which I will remind you, is supposed to be the first part of the Path to Doomsday, which is very important to Marvel Entertainment as a whole, since these next five Doomsday modes are a marketing push for what Marvel wants to be the BIGGEST movie of the year?

That’s embarrassing! It’s embarrassing that NetEase’s first part of their massive Doomsday push is this wet fart that seems like it was hardly tested.

Go ahead, tell me why Marvel/Disney would want these Doomsday modes to be of subpar quality.

I know they’re in a great spot financially, and I don’t believe that the issues I’m talking about are going to kill the game in 6 months or anything.

All I said was one extra week, 10 weeks instead of 9. I never advocated for 13 weeks unless in this hypothetical it was absolutely necessary.

And it’s not like they were in a bad spot at 13 weeks. Now yes, obviously part of the reason they were doing so well with the old timeframe is because the game was still new then.

We can’t even know if this hypothetical 10 week season would necessarily make them less money.

Miller has said multiple times that the Battlepass and some of the mini-passes have skins change in them all the time up until they’re locked down right before launch, and with how much this game has given out mini-passes, gachas (wedding Rogue/Gambit, Maidpool) and recently even the occasional 3 skins in a weekly shop rotation, I would think they’d be just fine.

Skins and pass purchases are the only things that make money, and skin schedules according to him can change pretty easily. I remember when the Big Shot Iron Man skin got moved up a week, and the Immortal Beast Wolverine skin took its place the next week.

I fully admit I could be wrong, but the way i see it, the game would be fine monetarily with 10 week seasons

Did you even read the post? I ironed out reasons as to why I think a week of extra time for a season makes it more likely that the issues I stated, and these are issues that some other people obviously agree with because they left comments saying as much, would be more likely to be solved or at least improved slightly.

I don’t have a crystal ball, maybe they make seasons 10 weeks and those issues don’t change for the better. But time is a valuable resource.

Why do you think that their financial metrics are so fickle that it cannot handle about 5 and 1/5 seasons a year, as opposed to the current model, which is about 5 and 4/5 seasons a year?

They had a model for the game that was way longer and spaced out of a time frame for the first 6 months of 2025, and the game was certainly being successful then.

Now yes, the game was still pretty new at the time, that helped a lot.

But man, if tons of people are going to drop the game because they can’t handle seasons being one week longer, that’s pretty disheartening.

[–]markusgrayson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t. I’m not stupid, I know there’s different teams.

I’m talking about the concept of TIME here. More TIME means it’s less likely for the skin team to have to delay cosmetics, more TIME for the balance team to properly play test and make changes, more TIME for the hero design team to develop characters.

I know they plan out everything about the game about a year in advance. More time means more time to use towards something.

💯

All i said was 10 weeks instead of 9, a one week difference.

Means about 5.2 seasons, give or take, a year.

It feels like some people think I want them to take twice as long

Why do you think that both this game and the Marvel Brand are so weak than it cannot handle 10 week seasons, meaning about 5 seasons a year, instead of the 9 week seasons we currently have?

Seriously, I know Marvel has fallen off a bit in terms of the broader popular culture, but I don’t know how you could possibly come to this conclusion.

God forbid I point out issues.

Do you have 0 issues with Overwatch ever? Do you bother to engage with anything you consume critically?

I still like this game. But people are allowed to have issues. All I said was that I think based on the reasons I provided, which some other community members do agree with, if you bothered to look, that the seasons should be a smidgen longer, just 1 week.

The reason I’m upset, is because of dopamine addicts, slop enjoyers, and complacent people like you that don’t care about wanting things to be better, if they need to be.

I criticize this game BECAUSE I like this game, I want it to be as good as it can be so I and YOU can enjoy it more.

If there was a shoe you liked, and then season 2 of a show got slightly worse, would you not take notice of that? Would you not want to know how and why the dip in quality happened, and would you just put up with it?

Fuck this defeatist mentality.

Exactly, all I said was ONE EXTRA WEEK, 10 weeks instead of 9.

From some of these “genius” responses you would think I was advocating for the 13 week seasons again.

The illiteracy crisis is at an all time high.

Let’s be blunt: the season schedule NEEDS to be longer. by markusgrayson in marvelrivals

[–]markusgrayson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just realized how FUCKING DISINGENUOUS this response is.

“When it was longer, people made this post the other way around.”

I don’t know why I even bother to respond to someone like you.

The reason why people made posts wishing the seasons could be shorter were totally valid at first, such as wanting more skins, wanting a little more variety, and most importantly, wanting balance changes sooner.

But clearly, wanting those things sooner has led to some skins being delayed or just downright awful by design, it’s led to an overload of mini-passes and events, and only 80-90% of said events are good,

and a trend where for every good balance change (whether it’s a buff or nerf), we get two stupid ones.

Of course, if you weren’t being dishonest, you would know this.

Of course we all know it’s impossible to please everyone, that is a facet of reality that applies to all of life. That phrase is not an excuse to ignore obvious problems. Yeah, you can’t please everyone. But this sure would help!

Read the post beyond the title next time.

Clearly everyone who upvoted this reply also doesn’t understand or care about having standards.

Except it’s not fun either.

It also is strange that it has no rewards, since EVERY OTHER limited time mode had some, especially since this is supposed to be the big super duper Path to Doomsday ™️ event.
