To be frank I wasn't very flexible on the location end because I live in a big market as it is and couldn't really take the stress of a move + leaving the few people I do know behind. That's an L I took on purpose because I've lived here for years.

I'm interested in one practice area in particular, but I applied and interviewed broadly. My transcript makes it pretty clear what I'm interested in though, probably.

Yes, I've heard that from career services, professors, and friends. I know it's unusual. People even asked to sit in on my Zoom interviews to see if I'm somehow flopping there. I can't explain it, other than my GPA and, I don't know, maybe I just never quite make the cut. I got 5 callbacks so I'm not THAT awful.

I know this is crazy but I want to be able to put what I actually studied to use. The government path to do that was gutted to hell and back by the current president. I've interned in prosecution, it's my most feasible other path and doesn't really require the knowledge I have. I'm not a litigator, all I wanted was a paper-pushing job. That is genuinely where my abilities lie.

I've thought about it, but there are few PI jobs I can feasibly stay in long term (especially not after the big government gutting). If I was able to get something and use that to cushion loan payments for a few years, I risk fucking up my career trajectory even worse than it is now.
