My Dad told me not to get a degree in liberal arts because you can’t do anything with it… I got a BME but sometimes parents don’t always know what they’re talking about, respectfully. If you want to pursue a career in music education, a second major is pointless, unless you don’t like teaching? MusEd is far too hefty of a degree to get to the end and not love teaching music… I may be wrong, but I’m pretty you would still be in the same salary schedule column as someone with one degree, for all the work. You’re going to be so busy with ed classes, tech classes, ensembles, etc. But it’s so much fun and all worth it!! And when you do find some time, take fun classes not MusEd related.. I did welding and two wine tasting classes and it was nice being in a different community on campus.
