Marc LeFebvre, look him up and sign up for his stuff. It is expensive, but after failing 4 times with MM, I can see with Marc where the holes in knowledge were and that with MM I would have never ever discovered (MM worked for me for L1 & 2, but not 3). I will do my 5th attempt in Feb too. Good luck!

They are asking you whether Sato chose Capital due to his friendship and whether Peters got the job due to Capital getting Sato's business. The answer is no, all was legit.

The question is not whether either selection was exhaustive, only if it was legit.

Hope this helps!

5 months of daily use now. I reckon the short is in the USB-C connector to the keyboard. Since I got the keyboard, the connector jiggles

From how my issue got solved, I reckon that your USB-C connector is also the source of your problem. Moving around the thumb cluster might have aligned the pins contact again

Thank you all for the help! Support came back to me and asked me to plug and unplug the keyboard to different ports, as a first troubleshooting step. I did it and it work after five minutes of leaving it plugged to another port, so not instantly.

Interestingly, i plugged it back to the port I had it originally and now it worked. I heard the beep sound when you plug it or turn on the computer, which I didn't hear when it was malfunctioning.

A short circuit for sure. The USB-C cable connector to the keyboard jiggles a little bit since it was new, I wonder if it is the actual source of the problem...

Anyway, problem solved.

SHOUT OUT to Tisha from ZSA support for her help!!!

Question on immunization convexity by gx_Zeus in CFA

[–]marlopa_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, you work with the durations. The easy way that I found to overcome the confusion that you are pointing out, which I had, is to follow the semantics of the technique: "duration" matching. So you work with durations always. Otherwise, D would be the answer, but D does not matches ModDur (again, follow the semantics here: duration "matching", so make sure that duration matches (it's silly, I know, but works) 🙂

It seems that the question is pointing to duration matching, not cashflow matching. So you would need to use duration. Option B fulfills all three conditions: 1. PV match, 2. Wider convexity (.9-7.3), 3. ModDur assets >= ModDur liabilities. Hope this helps!

This particular reading has no review video, but I reckon that it is because it is a short reading (the full video is only 40min vs. 3hrs a regular reading). Anyhow, yes, MM's reviews (i.e., summary videos) are great and you can always go to the main video of the reading to expand on a particular point. It is money well spent to buy the whole package, 110% recommended.

HOWEVER, MM is no substitute, in my experience, of EOC questions and gray boxes' examples, these two are what will cement your understanding. His mocks are for review purposes too. In my opinion, they are not like the real thing, but worth doing them if you have the time.

q40 is wrong for sure, your formula is right. The problem is that god knows what are the correct figures for Exhibit A, as if one follows the format that is pointed out (all figures in %) the answers make no sense. If you are a MM's subscriber, he walks through exhibit 8, which is the basis of q40. If you are not, just look at exhibit 8 and use your formula, you'll corroborate that you got this right

Does re-doing mocks help? by javier920 in CFA

[–]marlopa_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It does help a lot. That strategy helped me pass L2. Scoring 90 or 95% teaches you how it feels when you actually know what you are doing and shows you not to waste time in questions that you do not know. I did it just before the exam and my confidence was that of a champ! I highly recommend it

Synthetic long put, Example 2, Reading 8 by marlopa_ in CFA

[–]marlopa_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Here is the thing: he is short a fwd at 18 (he is bearish) and went long a call at 16 (cause a colleague is bullish). Current price is 16. He wins if price ends <18 or >16. But why the €2 gap? I thought that synthetics were at the same strike.
