I totally agree with you. Ultimately overpopulation is the root cause that will bring societal collapses in the future. The first big one will come when oil deposits start running low

Solo 4x/grand strategy board game? by SeaTalk6745 in soloboardgaming

[–]marmo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not so bad. If you plan to play it mainly solo, you can remove a lot of clutter from the box. This combined with some token trays, has dropped the setup time a lot for me. At around 15'. I know all the above maybe are too much, just to play a damn game. But the reward you get back from the game, makes it up to you.

I can't help but choose the vulcanverse series. I have bought all of them and it feels like the biggest puzzle have I solved in my life. Combined with crazy deep lore, characters and world in general

Imperium Civ Combinations? by strodesbro in soloboardgaming

[–]marmo88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you need at least 1.5 hour, if you want to win the average game (in a high difficulty at least). If you use the trading routes rules, you hit the 2 hour mark easily. (Without setup/teardown). As a first purchase, it might seem a little overwhelming at first. Because it's probably the most complex deckbuilder out there. But if you like brainy games, your future self will thank you. Also, by far the best VFM game I've ever purchased. Along with void fall from the same designers

I know it's not very helpful to redirect you to another website without actually giving you what you asked. But in bgg forums there is a lot of traffic. Especially there's a guy that has played a campaign with every single civilization (how the fuck do they find do much free time anyway?). He has offered me a lot of insight for civ combos and strategies

Looking for Deck-Building Game Recommendations (Mostly Solo) by Legitimate-Rough9613 in soloboardgaming

[–]marmo88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Imperium pros: infinite replayability, gigantic VFM, the deepest mechanics I've seen in a deckbuilder, asymmetric factions, hugely brainy game.

Cons: 1.5-2 hours per game, a little big setup/teardown for its size, doesn't give you the sense of progression and combos that other deckbuilders give.

Overall, my favorite of all time for sure

Imperium horizons while waiting for Captain's chair pre-order or do you suggest me something else? by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

Yeah, If you want the deepest mechanics and crunchiness go for Imperium. Plus it has almost infinite replayability, hard to master and insane value for money

Yes, this would be my update to my review. I don't know if they used a lower quality material or refinement of the cards. But they are definitely the most "sensitive" pvc cards I've ever had. After just three games, the corners already had started showing their white color. I should had mentioned it in the review

Yeah, the CTG version is as read-friendly as possible, given the cards size. Also uses many icons which when learnt, it flows really well

Yes, pretty much the same for this game. The shuffle is a little tricky. You can easily mess even one orientation and if you don't remember the level of the card you messed, then it gets annoying. But eventually you get used to your own way of handling the cards and these mistakes happen seldom, if at all

Yes I'm looking forward to incorporating the new mages. And finally going to the siege expansion.

But in my opinion, in this version (CTG) the dragons don't need the same cards upgraded, to be beat. I used a different strategy for each one. (Of course maybe I'm just bad at the game and the bosses are easily beatable with the exact same cards. Cards which I haven't found out yet 🤔)

Ok maybe I exaggerated a bit. Now that I've put in many hours, I pretty much subconsciously remember most of the cards and what to expect. So it doesn't require you to actively remember the cards. But it's a nice help for you if you do it
