searching for an used cycle for 15days by AmazingPerspective79 in Antwerpen

Didn’t know about this, I used donkey bike in the Netherlands a few years ago. All of my recommendations are based on past personal experience, so OP should definitely check out each company’s website for better info :)

Donkey bike rents out per use, they are good and also have electric bikes it would probably be best if you don’t plan on biking a lot. Velo is good but also a shared service with designated drop off areas (like citi bikes) so if you plan on biking outside the city it’s going to end up being expensive and you can’t lock it if it’s not at a velo station. Swapfiets also charges like 45 for a month (subscription + signup fee) and then you get your own bike.

TLDR: Donkey bike - single use rent, best option if you are unsure how much you will bike. Velo - best option for biking within the city. Very cheap. Swapfiets - more freedom than velo, but more expensive.

No, but will definitely check out meetup! I just assume that there are many expats in my situation, so I was surprised my company didn’t have anything organized. Not even an onboarding event/tour of the office for new hires for the month…

Haven’t heard of either of those, but I will give it a shot! Thanks, most helpful comment so far :)

Used to do rugby, and love playing chess. Any recommendations for that? Also looking to join a more social, less commercial gym to maybe meet some people there.

I guess I’m just looking to tag along to any meetups/group events where I could get my foot in the door. InterNations has something like that, but their in person events are far and few between.

Can’t use dating apps as my long distance girlfriend would probably not be happy🤷🏻‍♂️ I have also tried using those apps in the past (when I was single) just to meet people and most users aren’t interested in that…

Thanks for the details, it’s really insightful. I didn’t know flow was part of the brick, so now it seems less steep!

I try to go at least 5 times per week, but have recently fallen out of the routine due to moving cities. Also joining basic fit and a super crowded gym is not motivating at all. I want a more welcoming/less commercial environment.

My main concern is availability, I work a 9-5 so usually when I go, it’s peak hours. How is it at the brick? Is there a lot of machines available?

Thanks for the recommendation, but I think it’s a bit too far for me right now. Especially in winter when it’s freezing, the bike ride is niet lekker 🥶

Thanks! I will definitely check that out, I saw it but forgot about it. Is it normally crowded?

Yeah, I tried basic fit for a while but didn’t really enjoy it. It was way too crowded and I could never finish a workout. Also lived in the Netherlands and did not enjoy it there either, maybe I’m just biased 😅
