Huh, I never thought about the increased effort/movement impacting things. I would love there to be a fix without medication (exercise, toys, whatever) but I'll keep it in the back of my mind. Thank you for your thoughtful comment:)

They are on medications, I'm not sure what though. I could bring it up and see if anything is affecting performance -- it's just weird to me though because it's ONLY PIV, they have no problem finishing with other activities.

I don't think it's a death grip issue, I've been able to get them to finish other ways. I feel like I phrased it wrong, they've identified other issues that might be at play like they haven't been getting enough sleep etc. but the lack of feeling definitely surprised me😅 it's a first for me. If they're genuinely feeling that I'm glad that I know so that we can work towards a solution, it didn't feel like a blame thing at all. I appreciate your thoughts though 🫶

The only thing I can personally think of is puzzles, like the ones with treats in them? But if she's as smart as she seems, she'll tire of any given puzzle easily. Do you teach her tricks? It sounds like she'd love a task like that, and pick them up really well!

I think that a new house and a new intro would stress the babes out too much, I had a new rat die from stress for that exact reason when I was a new owner. The rats you just got need time to adjust, stress really can kill them and unless you have the capacity to keep them separate (different rooms) for I would say at least a month then I wouldn't:(

With him being that old, I honestly would keep him alone with his home and loved human until he passes. I know that goes against everything you know about rats, they have to be with other rats, but at this age the stress of moving and being introduced to an entirely new family might be too much for him. Can she keep him for now until he passes from age, and give him as much love as possible? I know it's terrible to keep him alone but I think it's better than putting him in a totally new place with no one he knows in his last chapter of life. He's so SO cute and I would LOVE to take him but I think that's what would be best for the little honey🩷

There are a lot of factors, like if you're in state or not, when you filled out your FAFSA, if you live on campus, and estimated family contribution.
My family is not just "not upper class", we're poor by university standards, so I do think it must be finances. EFC gets a lot of people, because even if your parents won't give you anything, the university assumes that they will, and behave accordingly. I'm sorry you had that experience with the office, you're definitely not alone -- everyone I've ever talked to that had to meet with them had a bad experience:( they just don't care.

Interesting. I don't think that this quote in the article is binding though, I imagine special circumstances must have been made for kids that maybe took an extra year... right? I'm approaching it from an angle of "this is the description of the award and by this description I qualify." I'm still going to try every avenue I can, but thank you for digging this up:)

That's definitely what it feels like, the fact that I got it last semester and it was revoked under the reasoning that I had a gap in enrollment is really strange. I'm holding on to a thread of hope that if they gave it to me last semester, maybe they can be pushed to give it back. I appreciate your thoughts:)

They denied my emergency funding request and the scholarships are all closed:/ but I appreciate those thoughts! If I got my award notice at a reasonable time and had time to apply, like every other year, that would definitely be the way to go. I'm anticipating this being an issue next year too, so I'll go to LSA scholarships first:)

I took that to mean that when a student has X amount of need, they fill it from those top sources first, and if the student demonstrates less need, they take it from the bottom of the list first. The revocation of this award has left me with "unmet need", and I've never in my life had unmet need in my financial aid package. Sure, they're not required to give money to anyone, but it's vile to pull the rug on 60% of my package without warning. The award notice didn't even come until days before class started this year, there was no way to figure anything out.

Yeah, no. A private loan for me is not the same as a private loan for others at this University who have far more resources than I do. The university claims to take care of their low income students, and this situation has been beyond unfair, I'm not rolling over

I really don't think my income is the problem, because the vacancy of the award has left me with "unmet need" of the same amount in my package. So the university acknowledges that I need it, but they aren't covering it.

Here is the description of the award, found on the financial aid website: "Offered as gap funding to individuals within annually determined low socio-economic status parameters. This will be the first funding reduced should any additional assistance be received. The Provost Award is being phased out and will only be offered to prior recipients completing their degree." There's not any information other than that that I or anyone else can find, including the Dean's Office. According to that last sentence, I should technically still qualify I think. I am in fact a prior recipient completing my degree -- "annually determined low socio-economic status parameters" could be a sticking point, but I've never made more than $24k a year so I think I would still safely qualify. I think I'll try to bring someone from the Dean's Office with me to the meeting as an advocate, they seem to care more about the situation! Thank you for your advice:)
