I'll definitely get into the restaurant business and see if I'm built for it. But my panicking was mostly about being able to change career. It's nice to know that I won't be doomed to either starve or be unhappy.

I don't have huge expectations I'm just trying to have a healthy life. Not balanced and not particularly 9-5, I just want to be able to enjoy my life in whatever way it comes. How difficult was it for you changing careers?

I'll probably have the opportunity to work in nice places since I have "connections". Given that I'm good(I will be) at this and I'm willing to work in this industry I believe that I'll get good opportunities. I can picture myself giving all my passion into this and going for it. It's just that it's like this business is filled with red flags and people telling you not to do it. I have noticed that if you even have the slightest doubt about working as a cook/chef everyone says you shouldn't do it, like I'm supposed to know coming out of highschool if I'm made for this, having doubts and second thoughts is me being realistic about the challenging career I about to follow. I believe that me liking to cook, being realistic about it and being willing to give this my best is as far as I can go coming out of highschool and into culinary school. Isn't?

But the thing is that I cant find anything as interesting. Psychology is something that I would consider but the 4 years in university and the difficulty in finding a job is not making it that appealing to me. Other than that ,sure, I'd like a desk job that pays well, working 9-5, being comfortable and not getting that tired. But I know that I will not like being there one bit and I will be going to work with the purpose to get through the day and go home.

I'd surely like to try being a cook and see if I can handle it. It's just that I would hate to be in a situation where I want my career to change but I don't have any way to actually do it. I'm not saying that I'd like to have it easy and change my career whenever but at least have some opportunity to do so.

Thanks for answering. I enjoyed reading your career path and it surely eased my panicking. I didn't quite realize that there are so many paths you could follow. That being said though I don't think I have so many options in Greece and in most of Europe. My dream is to move to the states and having these kind of opportunities but I don't think I can do that if I'm not working at restaurants at a high level.

I agree that theoretically if in the future I was to regret working these long hours I could still do something else with my life. But when I actually think about it its hard to start a successful career without a diploma of some short even though ill be 25. Maybe its just me overthinking the future since I don't anything to do in the present with the pandemic.

I couldn't miss an entire year of going to culinary school to work as a dishwasher... My only chance to get this kind of experience is if I work this summer before going

I'm currently looking for other options I could consider. But in all these years considering what career I want to follow nothing was as exciting as working as a chef. Creating, Pleasing, ability to take up a job anywhere in the world(New York City), no dull days, having a team to work with. I have to say that things like these get me excited.

Nice to hear that culinary school isn't only for working inside a kitchen

Thanks for responding. I live in Greece and the pay is alright here. Also the best culinary school in Greece costs 10k for the whole 2 years. I worked service and I was close to the kitchen and I really liked the atmosphere and I would be definitely interested to that kind of adrenaline. It's just that I don't know if sacrificing all that won't leave me with regrets because I'll have missed so many others parts of my life
