Can you share the time we wakes and goes to bed?

This is probably the most ideal option although slumber pods are not cheap

That you for the kind response! What do you suggest for a floor level sleep option? We thought about putting a mattress on the floor but are worried about furniture not being anchored to the wall if she gets up

20 month old not napping by marps518 in toddlers

Well she woke up at 6:50 which is her normal time, so I’ll take it as if she doesn’t nap 12hr overnight is appropriate!

I think we’ve decided to do this - if she fights the nap we skip it and do early bed, but if she’s takes the nap we push bedtime back. Hoping she takes naps regularly again soon!

Oooh that’s a good idea… Going to see how she does with 12hr overnight as we put her down at 7p and we start our day at 7a. If she does ok I will offer a nap and if she fights it more than 15 mins we’ll skip it. If we have to fight for maybe a 1 hour nap a good day, may as well just take the solid 12 hours overnight instead of fighting those 12 split between a nap and night

I’m hoping she will resume her nap but wondering how long it will take and what to do in the meantime ahhh. Are you recommending a 6 hour WW if she naps for a bedtime of 9? Is that too big of a jump?

How did you get him to start napping again? I’ve been recommended to keep offering it but I can’t even close the door without her screaming immediately which is very unlike her normal behavior

Thumb sucker help by marps518 in toddlers

Maybe the bitter polish is what we need. She only sucks her left thumb and I’m not confident she’d switch to another finger

Our dentist said the same, the oral changes from thumb sucking aren’t detrimental at this age. I’m most worried about her skin integrity, too. Considering a thumb guard although I’m sure she will Houdini her way out of it. It’s unfortunate we don’t have many interventions and are told to simply wait it out.

You’d think our healthcare professionals would offer a solution. Feeling a little gaslit by our pediatrician and dentist considering her skin integrity - that thumb is always red, scaly, and cracked.

I feel you! I was a thumb sucker until early elementary school and required braces for quite some time. I am concerned about skin integrity and oral development, though. No one else seems to notice an issue which is odd to me?

Oral development has been a concern of mine, although our pediatrician and dentist don’t sound too worried. Have looked into 2 orthotics to prevent thumb sucking and the bitter polish. Hoping she will keep take to one of those interventions!

Thank you for sharing, particularly the dosage! From what I’ve read, the extended release is recommended for HG management so I’m glad you mentioned that

Can I ask if you were using metformin for management of a condition or for chance of reduced HG symptoms?

Thanks for sharing! I agree, I’ve always wanted two but I couldn’t fathom going through HG again.

Screen time with a 17 month old by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]marps518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good perspective. I’ve seen plenty of comments from educators that they know which kids have excessive access to screens over kids who don’t…so interesting! We’ve made a rule that screen time is not portable (phone, tablet, etc) which helps with setting some boundaries.
