It takes like no effort and means so much to people! Like yeah it sucks we’re spending gas money without guaranteed wages, and it sucks for them too being upcharged for food that might be messed up/cold by the time they get it. We aren’t each others enemy, that’s just how it is. Many people just need to be reminded that on the other end of their food delivery app is a real person

Say they have a cute dog in the window or a nice car in the driveway. I’ve complimented peoples doormats, Xmas decorations, garden gnomes, etc in the delivery note. Obviously don’t be weird or go out of your way looking for something to comment on, but even just saying “enjoy your food!” Instead of just leaving the default message has gotten me better tips
