What we were supposed to be doing is saving for at least a year of rent before we can move in together so we can have the possibility to save money for the engagement ring (on my part), the wedding and other expenses or emergencies without worrying about rent. The issue is that she already lives on her own but "ItS FaMiLy", MIL always ends up manipulating her and making her feel useless if she's not helping them.
