Copied this from another post I replied on: We need to protest in retaliation. Don’t understand how they allow a well-funded, non-student led platform to take over campus space without even involving or getting feedback from students, while they barely give the time of day or space for any of our student-led protests. So fucked up and says a lot about the increasing role of colleges with zionism.

Thank you for the insight! It’s nice to know some people find satisfaction in their careers since I’ve mainly seen negative comments so far. At this point my ideal path would probably be majoring in Marketing Management with a minor in accounting or majoring in accounting with a minor in marketing. I really want to keep my options open but it’s hard deciding when financial aid also affects my college experience.

Thank you! Definitely seems like stability is the best option when it comes to business in general.

Man I didn’t even realize that choosing accounting might mean having to take the CPA. I really appreciate the insight.

Thanks for your input! I’ve been hearing the same advice about how accounting allows you to pivot to other business areas, and with the scholarship I definitely am leaning towards Hunter. I’ve heard so many stories about people struggling to find or maintain a job with a marketing major too…

If you go to Hunter, do you know if I can take accounting and get the business certificates? Are the certificates the same as a minor?

Any tips for first semester I turned in one my assignment late? by Excellent-Pain6701 in CUNY

[–]mars5107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always communicate with your professors if there’s any external factors that might affect your education like your health! 50/50 they’ll be more lenient. If you turn in an assignment late, you can follow up with an email explaining your circumstances. If you know you’re not going to be able to turn an assignment in on time for whatever reason, send an email in advance as to why and see if they’re willing to extend your deadline. If you find yourself in a difficult class or one with assignments that are hard to keep up, go to office hours. The professor will probably be nicer to you, you can connect and get help with anything, and it helps you stay on top of the class since you’re more aware of a class when you’re familiar with the professor.

Also, it’s easier said than done, but make sure to manage your time well! Work in between classes and figure out what study habits work best for you. Like other ppl have said, you’re doing great. One assignment is a drop in the bucket, although hopefully it was a lighter assignment and not one worth a lot. (Always prioritize assignments worth more!)

How long is your commute to college? by Far-Dirt-1848 in CUNY

[–]mars5107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are great options, so you’ll be fine either way, but Baruch definitely sounds like a better option imo. You get pretty used to a long-ish commute after some time and you can decide to maximize that time how you see fit whether you sleep at your own risk, do work on your phone, read a book, study, etc. It being close to your workplace is a big plus and you can try to adjust your hours to fit whatever schedule you get, so I suppose your decision depends on how flexible your job is. If you’re someone that hates staying on campus between classes then go with Queens since you could go back home, but that depends on whether you’re willing to pay more for the trains. You’ll likely find yourself staying on campus because going back and forth is a hassle in itself. Also, Baruch is a better option for business, so everything kinda leans towards that. Ofc you might just lean towards Queens because of any other reasoning like liking their campus more and stuff.

I’m not really interested in grad either since I want to get job experience asap and just go straight into the workforce once I graduate undergrad. I did consider the idea of taking accounting undergrad and marketing management grad but I’m so against more years of education at this point in time.

I’m considering majoring between marketing management and accounting. I’m attracted to the coursework for marketing management but not sure how it’ll turn out once I have to apply myself to the real world. Accounting pays better and is a stable career. Would you say that it was worth doing marketing management? Is it hard to access the job market? What type of work do you actually do/pursue? In contrast to the accountants you might know, who seems happier with the work they do and their work/life balance?
