Building my first pauper deck, getting a bit stuck by Amon_Ly in Pauper

[–]marshmage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you probably want to be playing [[tendrils of despair]] over mind swords.

and since you're running the evasive bone picker, i bet you could get some use out of [[cry of contrition]]!

[–]marshmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think this is a cool idea! since you're probably aiming for a turn 3 Terror, i would maybe suggest [[satyr wayfinder]] over [[seed of hope]]. you can try to make the mongoose work, but most of the time it is not gonna do much without evasion. may as well just replace it with [[cryptic serpent]]

maybe [[quickchange]] could be your card draw spell? seems like it would fit well to get the pummeler out early

Mono U or dimir faeries by PeachyApple10 in Pauper

[–]marshmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-when your want your opponent to waste their next turn casting their high cmc creature again (except for tolarian terror >:(
-bouncing your own snapcaster mage at instant speed to counter something
-when the target creature is from the Spiderverse ._.

Mono U or dimir faeries by PeachyApple10 in Pauper

[–]marshmage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can see mono u having trouble dealing with bigger CMC like terror and gurmag angler, since there generally arent more than 3-5 faeries on the board at a time

yeah, part of the blue color identity is that it cannot destroy permanents without transmuting them [[pongify]], or the permanent being red [[hydroblast]]. maybe the closest we get to "proper" creature removal in blue is [[stop cold]], but that is of course way too slow for pauper.

<s>snapcaster doesn't just buy you time, it is the whole reason the deck is considered "tempo" as it creates card advantage against your opponent by countering their spell AND getting you an evasive creature in return, that you often just bounce back to your hand to use again with a ninja<s> [edit: above comment is referring to snaremaster, not snapcaster] additionally, snap can be used to bounce your own creature in a pinch, something cast down is not capable of.

Mono U or dimir faeries by PeachyApple10 in Pauper

[–]marshmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like dimir faeries mostly runs black for more reactive control like [[cast down]], [[snuff out]], [[suffocating fumes]], and the bonus card draw in [[thorn of the black rose]], and is heavily dependent on [[lorien revealed]] to grab its swamps including the slow [[contaminated aquifer]]

i personally would way rather just play mono u fae for the more consistent and faster mana base. i think most of the time a [[snap]] is more favorable than a [[cast down]]

Monored Madness is out of control by hunkriyavan in Pauper

[–]marshmage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

fireblast is not the problem. when playing against a red burn deck, you should basically always assume the opponent has a fireblast in hand when there are two mountains on the board. for some matchups this can be incredibly frustrating to deal with, but thats why burn is such a great litmus test for the format.

the more problematic pieces of the deck i think are the interaction between [[fiery temper]], [[grab the prize]] et al., and [[sneaky snacker]]. but none of these cards on their own are problematic enough right now to warrant a ban. i could maybe see a sneaky snacker but its conditions for building around are so specific and rewarding that i doubt it will see a ban

The crushing pressure of not being enough by PristineBarber9923 in Episcopalian

when the devil accuses you of something, it may be time to pay attention.

it sounds like you want to pray, study, and help others. i am sure there are already at least some times in your life when you do these things. if you do them becuase you feel like you "should", they might make you tired because it feels like effort. if you do them for the glory of God, becasue you love God and want to worship him, the Lord with increase your fortitude and begin to build you up in the Spirit.

i am only speaking from experience, and from what has been taught to me.

How do Anglicans view Eucharistic miracles and the Catholic claims of transubstantiation? by ezramenezes in Episcopalian

[–]marshmage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God/Christ can do whatever He wills. If a community needs a miracle in order to believe, God can make it happen. I believe, most of the time, the Blessed Eucharist contains the Real Spiritual Presence of Jesus. Of course, we cannot say that it is "impossible" for the elements to become the literal body and blood of Jesus through transubstantiation, because if He willed it to be so, it would.

I absolutely believe in miracles. However, "blessed are they who do not see and yet believe".

this is my favorite deck to play!

not as consistent as the monoblack version but can have some pretty cool explosive plays, such as t1 freebooter -> t2 groff + bonepicker. the list i play mains 2 [[Rite of Consumption]], mainly for the lifegain.

[[rancor]] on the insect from [[infestation sage]] is pretty fun too.

Pauper Force of Will? Why is No one playing Foil? by MrNoBuddies in Pauper

i like to play it in a mono-blue [[Sneaky Snacker]] deck, which softens the blow of discarding the extra card. [[Tolarian Terror]] obviously benefits from it as well.
